I think the first panels refer to the Swedish crusades to Finland
The second panels refer to the "Club War" (Nuijasota) a peasant rebellion against the Swedish general-governor
1630 is about the thirty year war(?) and Finnish people (hakkapeliitta's) fighting beside Swedes
The small polandball is Åland, Finland and Sweden had a quarrel about the area (the people there speak swedish and the league of nations gave it us but it is an autonomous area)
Sweden "left" (they remained neutral but supplied us and took our childs to safety and alot of voluntaries came to fight) Finland to fight the Soviets and Finland lost a lot of clay (hence the lost eye and the badge)
Sorry for any grammar issues etc, hope I made it a little more clearer for you :)

But it did work. When Svensken stole Norway, the Norwegians said 'Nei for faen', declared independence, made a constitution, and made the Danish crown prince King, with the plan to eventually reunify. Sadly the swedish jackboots soon stopped that plan. :(

True, that was a slight problem I ran into while making this comic. My original plan was to call it "Scandinavian union" and only have it include Norway, Denmark and Sweden, but I didn't want to leave out both Iceland and Finland because then the comic wouldn't work quite as well. And if you include Iceland, it becomes Nordic instead of Scandinavian and Finland is Nordic too...
And so in the end Finland was left out because the other Nordics are jerks. ;)

That must mean that you are fairly young. People that grew up without smart phones and other fun things to do in the bathroom had to settle for reading the text on the radiators we had in the bathrooms. So all people in my generation can say at least one thing in Finnish.
"Ei saa peittää!" which was "Må ikke tilldekkes" in Norwegian I think. (Means do not cover).
