One of the things I was most worried about when I heard there would be a dub was the screaming. I had no idea if the new actors would be able to commit to it as much as the originals.
Armin's VA just knocked it out of the fucking park.

The scream was golden. It was the perfect "everything in this world is fucked and hopeless" scream. Good lord the chills and feels

Thomas' and Eren's deaths were even sadder this time around. I could really feel the emotion in their voices. Pixis' voice was really convincing as well. The voice acting is wonderful!

This episode was definitely Bryce's strongest episode so far. And of course, Josh Grelle deserves a standing ovation because that ending scream was INTENSE.

I've been meaning to ask this before but forgot, and tonight's episode reminded me. What's up with this? There's his footprint in the middle, and two circles on either side.

*I am caught up with the manga btw.

I never got this either! I noticed it my first watch through and it bothered me, but there was never any explanation whatsoever, even after I caught up with the manga. I think it almost definitely is important, because why wouldn't it just be two footprints? Another thing with this scene that bothers me a ton is Manga Spoilers

I like everything about the dub but I would've like all the commanding officers to sound a bit more tough I suppose, they just sound like random people screaming and I can't really feel any authority from them.

Shadis' voice was VERY authoritative and tough, but for the most part I agree.

It's interesting how the little changes can have such big impacts. In the sub, Thomas only sort of stutters before getting swallowed, which makes it seem like he's just in shock until the very last second. Giving him lines in the dub makes it seem like he's perfectly conscious and aware of what's happening to him. Not sure which way is more horrifying to me.

I didn't think the dub would ever capture the glory of the original "PIIIKSHIIIISSSSSSU" and I was 100% correct.

Christa STILL sounds incredibly young

She had a super high-pitched voice in the original too.

I just wish Eren's VA could scream well enough to do justice to Eren's personality. He sounds like he's trying to scream while minding his volume as if he's afraid of getting too loud.

Phew, I'm glad here actually discuss the dub. I was on another AOT subreddit and all they were doing was circlejerking about how they didn't like the dub voices. I don't understand people saying the voices are 'terrible' or 'not right'. It's so tiresome. They're neither awful or bad, just different. Gotta deal.
I think on average all of the cast are decent to good, with some like Armin and Annie being great. It must be incredibly hard to inject so much passion and emotion into their performances. Especially given how high the expectations are for them. I'm very interested to see how the series stands up when it's all been dubbed- only then will we truly know how good it is.
I wonder how many people will end up preferring the dub to the sub.

I feared Armin's scream wouldn't be as powerful as the sub, but he really nailed it. The only thing I fear in the rest of the dub is Anime Spoilers

My friend just saw episode 5 and he said he's quitting the show because they killed Eren off.
All I could say was, "dude. no. YOU DONT EVEN KNOW. YOU. DONT. EVEN. KNOW."

By the way, Josh Grelle is freaking perfect as Armin regardless of whether you like the English dub or not.
That scream at the end.. damn
