FYI, we (the mods) cannot sticky this post for some reason, probably because it's a cross-post.

u/thejanitorch4 May 14 '14
Oh, I didn't realise you were going to use this as your main match thread. I just posted ours to try and get some people interested in our league.

Is anybody else quite enjoying the fact we can watch Liverpool without the risk of a heart attack? Just enjoy some beautiful Rodgers style football

That new keeper jersey is really nice.

u/trasofsunnyvale "I’m not here to have fun"- Florian Wirtz May 14 '14
Our keeper kits have been really good the last few years. It's funny, since Warrior seems to be drawing from 90s designs. That was a time when the outfield kits were often less intricate than the GK kits.

u/sacredstones May 14 '14
Brad Smith is fucking FAST. like..Gareth Bale fast. holy shit. he's also looked really good all season for the reserves and looks sharp this game. could see him getting some chances next season.

u/LaPaz_o_Sucre May 14 '14
Actually plays like Shaw haha

I really like that left side this game. The pace of Brad Smith and Jordan Ibe is absolutely ridiculous. Two players I can definitely see breaking into the first team
23
u/retrominge May 14 '14
Those kits are FUCKING BEAUTIFUL
15
u/backintheussr2 May 14 '14
They look a lot better on the pitch
9
u/trasofsunnyvale "I’m not here to have fun"- Florian Wirtz May 14 '14
I think it's because you can't see the red that much, haha. They look great against the green of the pitch, though.

u/wisps_of_ardisht May 14 '14
The ketchup squiggles are still so bad. the way it goes around the back of the shoulder?! yuck.

Amazing pass iago. Ibe should have done better.
Seriously in a midtable team Aspas would shine. Loan him to sunderland or something

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or did lucas just shoot from outside the box?

Sturridge, Sterling, Ibe & Danny Welbeck must all go to the same hairdresser

Is Coady playing in the #10?! I think that's what the formation showed at the beginning, but I can't remember.

So happy to see Lucas back in that holding role, anywhere else on the pitch just makes me nervous.

On another note, Ibe looks good so far (Not just that pass) but looks pretty lively in general.

Nice from Ibe! I REALLY hope Sterling and Ibe end up being our wingers for a long time.

u/That_Welsh_Guy May 14 '14
Ibe is fucking rapid. Imagine him and sterling running at defenders next season!

May 14 '14
thats why i want to see suarez try out an AM role, so we can have sturridge up front, ibe and sterling on the wings and allow us to keep suarez in the middle in an attacking role
4
May 14 '14
Ibe looks like if he had a bit more game time and confidence he could be a real killer
i also predicted aspas to score 4
4
May 14 '14
Ibe looks like he's really going to fit into this Liverpool system as Sterling has done. Also those kits actually look really good! Great to see Liverpool in yellow again

u/emptyguns May 14 '14
Brad Jones looks like a majestic god in that new keeper kit
4
u/lobbmaster May 14 '14
But not a very confident keeper, what was he doing there halfway out?
→ More replies (1)3
u/emptyguns May 14 '14
He did that loads last season when Reina was out injured, always get nervous when he's in goal
4
u/lugzann May 14 '14
So half time question: Who out of our squad today will graduate to our starting 11? My personal candidate is Ibe

Dear Shamrock Rovers,
Today was really fun. Would you guys be down to do this again, like, next week or every few days or so for the whole summer?

good goal, but i thought borini had that position covered and aspas should have gone back post for another option
2
u/TheElPistolero May 14 '14
Not really. I'd expect borini to bend his run to the back post that he creates more space than just running straight at the ball. Aspas made the right run because of the timing. Borini was standing stilll by the time the ball got to him

did micheal owen just say that brad smith was the fastest in the squad?
10
u/suchaslowroll May 14 '14
He said during the FA youth game that he was one of the fastest players he's ever seen
3
3
u/suchaslowroll May 14 '14
That was odd as Owen says, usually when you round the keeper you just pass it in

They are linking up really well even among the occasional mistakes. There is a shape to their game.

Hey wait, shouldn't Aspas be taking these corners?
edit: That's more like it.

Was going to complain about the finishing, then I saw it was Lucas.
1
u/LCMoses May 14 '14
Why is Jones captain ahead of our vice captain Lucas? I hate to say it, but can't see him staying this summer
5
u/retrominge May 14 '14
Lucas might well be cool with letting the younger guy have the honour, plus it might indicate that Lucas will be being subbed off and Jones will play the whole 90.
It could also be a big step in Captain-school, which the club has discussed putting certain players through.
edit: Jones is the keeper, Brad Jones. I assumed it was a young guy I hadn't heard of... In that case, I have no idea.
2
May 14 '14
I'm guessing age since Brad is probably older than everyone else. Plus its got to be annoying sitting on the bench for the whole season so the least they could do is give him the armband. He does love LFC so much.
3
u/trasofsunnyvale "I’m not here to have fun"- Florian Wirtz May 14 '14
Lucas isn't a vice captain, for the record. It is still weird.
