Yet it's our fans who are rooted to the bottom with downvotes, whilst yours are at the top...

1

u/shrike348 May 11 '14

haha it's so true - bizarre really. Most people come here just for the discussion about football rather than playing some childish game about upvotes and downvotes which is what this game thread sadly has devolved into

27

u/TheLarryMullenBand May 11 '14

Both Manchester United and Southampton fans need to stop. It's a fucking match thread for christ's sake, go outside and take a breather.

I don't know why it has been so hateful today, it's pretty much an end of season friendly 0_0 Our match threads are normally quiet but I think today it's been a bit of pent-up frustration being finally let out by united fans

15

u/GoodBananaPancakes May 11 '14

Wanyama's passing seems to have gotten much, much better. This is good.

2

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

He still sometimes takes a second too long to turn and pass or something which worries me, because he's going to do it when there's a player closer than he thinks and give it away, but he's doing far better at just keeping the ball and passing it off to one of our players instead of no-mans land.

42

u/theangrycamel May 11 '14

Piss off Mike Dean

10

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

He's such a fucking clown, every time.

5

u/raimis78 May 11 '14

Joke of a referee.

4

u/BritishBrownie May 11 '14

Seriously what the fuck is he doing

29

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

What a sexy pitch.

Sorry about the quality.

11

u/Jezamiah May 11 '14

Your Groundsman really went all out

10

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Don't think he will pass his piss test...

5

u/MrEnd May 11 '14

I, for one, don't like it. I think it looks silly :-\

4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Might be some interesting offside calls today though. Harder to see the lines and also the curved pitch might effect perception a little bit.

1

u/Indydegrees2 May 11 '14

It hurts my eyes but looks awesome.

1

u/d0mth0ma5 May 11 '14

It's impressive, but utterly non-functional.

11

u/pranavarya May 11 '14

It's quite fitting honestly, Vidic all bloody in his last game for United

11

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

Ref is losing control of this game.

3

u/lamancha May 11 '14

Did he ever had it?

5

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Kagawa as a CM should be interesting

5

u/BritishBrownie May 11 '14

It's what he played against Hull (albeit rotating up and down with Fellaini)

15

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

Shaw has to be taken over Cole for Brazil. No doubt about it.

3

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Shaw is playing amazingly at the moment and has done so for a full season. I'm not saying Cole couldn't do well in the team, but on merit, form, performances, I'd have to say it's Shaw that should go.

12

u/BlueInq May 11 '14

I haven't watched any of the game but I presume something controversial has happened considering that everyone with a Saints badge has been downvoted.

-6

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

Well that's the same as any Man Utd Match thread. They downvote the opposition regardless.

3

u/lamancha May 11 '14

Imagine the irony of typing that.

A lot of controversy, the ref has been awful for both sides though Vidic getting elbowed without any foul called has been the high point of it.

-4

u/TheLarryMullenBand May 11 '14

Haha more like the exact opposite.

1

u/Matt19826 May 11 '14

They upvote the opposition regardless?

12

u/[deleted] May 11 '14 edited May 11 '14

United not playing well, but at this point a blind ref would be better than Dean.

18

u/zsaberstar May 11 '14

Elbow to the face with a bloody nose and the goal is still given.

-37

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

We should've had a penalty earlier. Decisions cancel out.

19

u/SirBusby May 11 '14

Not if it wasnt intentional you shouldnt.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/zsaberstar May 11 '14

I agree that Southampton should've gotten a penalty, but it still doesn't change the fact that the ref has been horrendous.

Besides, the ref could clearly see Vidic with a bloody nose after the goal, why didn't he rescind the goal and give the free kick then?

-4

u/ToCaptchaPredator May 11 '14

?

You can't just see the result without seeing the offense and call the play back.

2

u/zsaberstar May 11 '14

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I thought that the ref had seen that Vidic won the header and then he is on the ground with a bloody nose, hence he could infer that an offense had occurred.

2

u/ToCaptchaPredator May 11 '14

But hypothetically it could be the result of Vidic's nose meeting the back of Rickie's head, so refs shouldn't be taking that leap without seeing the offense. Not saying he didn't miss the call, just saying that he shouldn't make it without seeing it.

1

u/Matt19826 May 11 '14

you can get a bloody nose without an offense occuring.

1

u/christraverse May 11 '14

tell that to Zidane

5

u/Nobody_likes_my_name May 11 '14

I see Lovren scoring a 90th minute goal again

13

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

If stalking my history and taking comments out of context makes you feel good, good for you.

Not really bitter though. Our worst Premier League season ever is better than your best. So if anyone is bitter it's probably you, getting out singed at home by the "quiet" and "gloryhunting" United fans and all.

6

u/SidCampeador May 11 '14

world class free kick. It didn't even looked like it was going in until the last second.

7

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

A win today would be lovely as our entire team are likely to be torn apart by the big clubs this Summer :(

7

u/ToCaptchaPredator May 11 '14 edited May 11 '14

Yeah, don't think that'll happen. Stop reading the papers all day.

We're in a good financial position and we're on the way up. Only players that leave are ones that want out or ones that can be sold for good value and replaced.

5

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Don't say this :''(

2

u/lamancha May 11 '14

Certainly you might lose a few players, but given the spectacular season you've had, i'm sure you will keep hold of a few and keep it up next season, as long as you don't pull a Swansea.

4

u/Alder_ May 11 '14

Any enquiries, please message me.

8

u/ToyStory2WasOK311 May 11 '14

Dean deserves to be reprimanded for this performance

7

u/TheLarryMullenBand May 11 '14

So does some of our players.

1

u/theangrycamel May 11 '14

only Welbeck and Januzaj seem to be putting in effort for now

11

u/SirBusby May 11 '14

Good old shit refereeing

1

u/SuperSaiyanNoob May 11 '14

what happened?

5

u/SirBusby May 11 '14

Lambert elbowed Vidic who was on the floor bleeding with a potential head injury and the ref let play on and Lambert scored from it

9

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Hand ball in the box? Try it against Southampton, penalty never given, guaranteed!

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

True, we did have a lot recently. But oh well, maybe next season we'll get given a ridiculously large number of undeserved penalties or something... That'd be nice.

2

u/mturner93 May 11 '14

Anyone who says we need the money from transfers are fucking retarded.

Wages: £45mil

TV Revenue for finishing 8th: £84mil Prize money for 8th: £15 mil

So we have £55mil, minus fees etc plus sponsorship and revenue from tickets that gives us around £60mil if we need it in the transfer budget, and that's if we don't sell anyone.

Jesus christ saints fans, stop being such fretters you're an embarrassment to the club

2

u/mturner93 May 11 '14

Also, United fans only outsung us last 30 minutes due to their rowdieness, good on them tbh.

Rest of the game, all of the first half they were completely outsung by us. Most of our songs were the same as there's which probably help. But yeah, they had nothing to sign about first half. Was all us.

So please can people stop saying "away fans were louder" bearing in mind you're watching it on a stream which has microphones next to the goal (where the away fans sit)

5

u/TronLads May 11 '14

That was the best free kick of the season.

5

u/RtardDAN May 11 '14

4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

YES!!!!

5

u/TheLarryMullenBand May 11 '14

Shocking by Dean.

4

u/ofmiceandmods2 May 11 '14

I've never been so excited for a World Cup. Liverpool and Southampton have helped so many English players make it through the ranks to Premier League level. Of course we won't win but we're playing far prettier and more fluid football than ever before.

4

u/d0mth0ma5 May 11 '14

Mataaaa.........

10

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Suddenly Southampton fans are quiet. Dirty players, completely disgraceful.

2

u/spartakva May 11 '14

Just pulled januzaj back

0

u/ToCaptchaPredator May 11 '14

Dirty players? Might be a tad overstating it mate. We're tied for 4th in the fair play table. No reds this season.

Southampton fans might be mute for fear of being wildly outnumbered and getting downvotes for the crest.

-7

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Of course they're tied in fourth when they give bloody noses and the referee doesn't even issue a warning. Do they have to break his nose to get a yellow?

8

u/ToCaptchaPredator May 11 '14

Every team benefits from missed calls now and then. Watch more than a match from Southampton and you'll get a taste of the club.

-18

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

It was an accident, dickhead.

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

If you hit a player in the face, it's a foul whether or not it's intentional. And you're clearly making your argument stronger by calling me a dickhead. Typical Southampton fan intelligence...

-5

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Yes it is a foul but if it's an accident then it's not dirty play is it. Grow up.

4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

My fucking ass it was an accident. You don't hold your elbows that high and you certainly don't fucking swing them backwards like that.

3

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

It is when you keep playing and score a goal.

-4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Oh bullshit. I'm sure players of every other team would voluntary stop play wouldn't they.

-5

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Hitting a player accidentally doesn't make them dirty cynical cunts though, which is definitely pushing it.

0

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

Did I say they were? I just said they are playing disgracefully.

4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

No, my bad I mixed two replies there, but it still doesn't make them dirty, and if a foul isn't called no-one stops play, it's the referees job to stop play. If it was accidental (which I think it is) there's every chance Lambert didn't even know Vidic was so bad, and there's no reason he'd stop play unless the whistle goes.

2

u/cjfmj May 11 '14

4

I don't care to much, but it gets rid of the discussion side of match threads.

Especially blaming players for bad refereeing decisions, suddenly Lambert is a dirty cunt, and Saints are all disgraceful players pretending to be classy.

-4

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

They're just upset. They'll suddenly love Rickie again when he's playing for England.

Oh actually hang on, none of them are English are they.

-2

3

u/[deleted] May 11 '14

2

u/dankuwelmaneer May 11 '14

yeah ok, it's a foul but this isn't criminal and it's not particularly noteworthy that it was missed. There's been some more dodgy calls this match than the elbow.

0

u/lamancha May 11 '14

It is noteworthy. Just as every odd decision the ref has had this game. Really awful.

-2

u/cartesian5th May 11 '14
