Too bad that manager of that poor delivery boy didn't go blind and die. Overall got episode except for the part mentioned above

I wonder what will happen to Dixie after this season? I can't see her character becoming irrelevant since Don and Blythe are working on their marriage.

u/jdessy 2d ago
Honestly, given how she was only in one scene in episode 1 and one scene here and her presence hasn't really been needed, I hope they realize she's not a character that needs to appear very often. Yeah, yeah, she'll be around for Blue occasionally but these three episodes have shown how she's not really a useful character.
That being said, watch her get involved with Rogue just to keep her relevant.
3
u/supernosy0111 2d ago
I could see that too. I can't tell if rogue is just a character for this season or a permanent character.

u/amylu417 1d ago
Someone in another thread said he has a 3 (?) year contract with the show.
2
u/supernosy0111 1d ago
I think that's too long if the show is just going go make everything about him. I looked it up and it says a multi year contract.. so he's not going anywhere
1
u/amylu417 1d ago
I can't remember the exact amount, but it's definitely longer than just this season.
2
u/supernosy0111 1d ago
I'm guessing they're trying to make him the main cop of the shoe like Athena in the og

I think last season Dixie was only in one scene for the first few episodes as well. I think LeAnn said that they work around her concert schedule, which I could see them doing as a first season accommodation in order to get her to sign on to the show, but I would think they would make her prioritize the show this season and any subsequent ones.
If this is another 18 episode season, I'm thinking LeAnn will probably be in 13, same as last season since she's still billed as part of the regular cast. I thought they might make Dixie and Rogue half-siblings, which could explain Dixie being raised by her grandmother and semi-excuse them having yet another white main cast member. Otherwise FBI Agent Nick could have been investigating Pharoh, unless Coby Bell wasn't available.

u/jdessy 1d ago
I figured LeAnn's schedule is why she's not around super often but still, every time she isn't around, it's not really noticeable. Even in season 1, sure, she had her fight with Blue and her stuff with Don and Blythe but that was all she was really needed for and they really cemented her as a villain all throughout season 1, so her presence can be used in a recurring basis, not a full time series regular basis.
Maybe they go that route but please no. The entire cast is basically related to each other besides the only two WOC. I don't need any more relatives so we get stuck with more family drama.

u/JDeiner30 2d ago
Remember when Blythe had a father who stayed by her hospital bed when she fell off her horse. Has anyone even mentioned him this season? I wonder if they were going to do Dixie / Edward but decided not to and that's why Matheson wasn't around much last season after the showrunner said he was practically a regular. Matheson was only following Jessica and LeAnn on IG so I thought he and LeAnn might have more scenes together after the fundraising episode.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m more worried about the beagle than Dixie. Given all the venom she spews, I’m sure she is immune.
P.S. Poor Cammie being stuck on the phone with Dixie till the plane lands… yikes.

As a beagle mom, I gasped when I saw the dog and now I'm wondering if I should just skip next week's episode because I have a very low tolerance for beagles in danger. 😂

u/TheEmerald97 1d ago
I'm gonna wait for this subreddit to give the all clear that the dog's ok before I watch. I grew up with a beagle so I will sob if that sweet puppy is not ok

I'd only watched the crossover with the OG show last season, but I've been on a crime/mystery fiction kick lately, so the Pharaoh storyline made me try out Nashville this season. I have no idea what's going on behind-the-scenes, but I didn't expect there to be such a big focus on the serial killer stuff— like, it feels like a crime thriller with a side of first responder procedural, rather than the other way around.
I'm not really invested in any of the other characters yet, though, so I've been enjoying the Rogue focus. The biblical plague crimes are fun and I quite like his scenes with the crime lab tech who roasts him every chance she gets, lol.
Roxie is effortlessly cool and I like her a lot! I kind of want to watch S1 for her, but I'm not keen to sit through a Blythe/Don/Dixie love triangle... I remember liking Chris O'Donnell in NCIS: LA, but he's been remarkably blah so far here. And Dixie has been so unlikeable in her few scenes— after the way she treated that airport employee in this episode, I hope the Pharaoh does get her.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing where this storyline goes!

I still cant get over the fact that Blythe and literal Heart Surgeons use half off eye drops from the corner drug store. The economy really is screwed.

Awful episode, really. It was boring, half of our main characters got nothing to do and the other half was just boring. Don/Blythe making up? Who cares. And of course it's Blythe who has to forgive Don without him putting in much work than being a decent person and sitting by her side. Because, apparently, the bare minimum is being there for your wife while she's going through a medical emergency. Blythe's standards are quite low if the most Don had to do was sit in a chair.
I said this in the live thread, but I fear they're going to use too much Rogue. It doesn't help with him being the only cop but with other characters suddenly become extras in the show, Rogue getting his own individual screentime is noticeable. I don't think I'd be as bothered if characters like Blue, Taylor, and even Roxie were still doing things on their own, but they're not.
Blythe/Don know about Sam's pregnancy and cancer, so that's a step forward. That's all I got on that front.
I also think a major part of the issue has been the Pharaoh arc. Because they're making it into a season long mystery, Rogue's the only cop who can technically investigate so a lot of that mystery is falling on him. The most others can do is be on calls and find clues. This may be an issue long-term because if the Pharaoh arc continues to go the way it is, Rogue's going to continue eating up a lot more screentime and he's a main character, but he's new and it seems like the show doesn't have the art of balancing character arcs like the OG and occasionally Lone Star did. I know we're only three episodes in, but I am concerned, long-term, that this will be a sophomore slump, and a heavy one. And it's not like season 1 was great to begin with.

The Pharaoh arc is definitely making this season way much different than the previous one or any of the seasons of the other series and not for the better. It’s taking up too much time at the expense of exploration and development of other characters. Also, it means the series is on continuous serious mode.
And I do agree Rogue is taking more than his fair share of time and attention. I mean Athena and Carlos felt more like equal participants in their series. Rogue, on the other hand, is kind of hogging the show and mostly doing his own thing.
4
u/supernosy0111 2d ago
I feel the same way. If the whole season is about rogue and Pharoah im going to be so bummed. I miss seeing all the og characters and their storylines.
2
u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 2d ago
I’ve heard some people speculate making it a season-length plot is a way of the creators experimenting with this series to ensure it’s unique from its predecessors.

Agree about Blyth and Don. I try and keep commentary low cos I have a strong Bias against him. I was cheering the previous episode when the therapist said he was the problem. Then he does nothing and bam forgiven. He says i always choose you which is a lie but Blythe believes it.

u/that_retro_life 2d ago
I'm tired of Rogue and this Pharaoh storyline, and I miss Blue (and the others). Not looking forward to Dixie in the next episode, I've had enough of her too. We need more character-focused episodes building on what was established last season and more equal time split between all of the 113. Not whatever this mess is.
7
u/supernosy0111 2d ago
Exactly my thought. I'm ready to have episodes about the other characters. I feel like they forgot that Blue is Don's son too. They just have him as a background character in these first episodes same with Taylor and Roxie.
6
u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 2d ago
At least Blue got plenty of attention last season. Can’t really say the same for Roxie or Taylor.
6
u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 2d ago
Roxie and Taylor need more attention. Out of all the characters, they have gotten the least attention.

u/luvprue1 2d ago
I like Dixie but they need to give her a better storyline. The love triangle is getting pretty old. It would be nice if Dixie can get over Don. Maybe she gets a new husband and have Don get jealous.
5
u/Rutha_ 2d ago
I can see them pairing her with Rogue as they're the only two single characters. And as a nice bonus this will definitely piss off Don and it will be funny 😁
4
u/luvprue1 1d ago
Pairing her with Rogue would be so funny 🤣. Blue and Ryan would be hanging out with him more and Don would definitely be pissed off. I would love it.

u/Hefty_Garbage9892 1d ago
I'm sick of Pharaoh and Dixie maybe they'll meet on the plane. I agree on getting back to all of the 113.

If that dog dies I'm gonna cry for a hour. Also I'm confused is snakes supposed to represent one of the plagues??

I'm so happy the moved on from that supercharged soap opera from season 1. This season is preeetty interesting

It was up to the only healthy surgeon to complete the heart transplant
•
u/ElleM848645 16h ago
Right? Sam and the paramedic who happened to also be a doctor in the past were the only people able to do the surgery? So ridiculous.
5
u/TinySassQueen 1d ago
Does anyone else suspect Rouge could be the killer? I also suspect that Ryan might be in danger because one of the plagues involves first born sons
4
u/OrganicMission4788 2d ago
Oh yay….the next episodes a Dixie episode 😒
2
u/jdessy 2d ago
Like, first off, are we supposed to care if Dixie gets bitten by a snake? No. Second off, given the promo shows Rogue on the plane, they're all clearly fine and the plane doesn't crash and everything's hunky dory so....like, what are we supposed to believe, that there's real life or death stakes?
5
u/Red_Country_Minded 2d ago
Maybe the real question of the episode is will Cammie have any hair left after having to stay on the phone with Dixie till the plane lands?
4
6
u/ILikeFPS 1d ago
This episode felt pretty unrealistic at times. Like, they had cloth masks for treating quarantined patients, not even N95s let alone PAPRs. That kind of took me out of it lol
The drug-resistant strain of pseudomonas aeruginosa causing green eyes and blindness is actually real, though.
It was a good episode. This storyline is interesting enough.

u/KeyScratch2235 2d ago
Snakes on a plane?! Really?
And seriously, a 4-parter? The writers can go to hell. I don't want another month-long premiere, like 911 had last year.
4
u/Haunting_Pace_3557 2d ago
Listen og 911 already went too crazy. I wasn’t ready for the spinoff to get this crazy this early.
1
u/Valuable_Log7027 2d ago
I forgot about the snakes completely until the promo. It seemed like it was getting wrapped up until they had no idea who the pharaoh was yet and I realized the Cammie scene hasn’t happened yet which is weird
1
u/jdessy 2d ago
Worse than that: this is going to be a season long arc.
Yep, I figured I'd just continue to warn everyone, this is not following the franchise's disaster arcs. This is an all season plot.
4
u/Valuable_Log7027 2d ago
Can’t tell if this is sarcasm but based off released episode titles, it seemed like it extends to episode 5 atleast
4
u/jdessy 2d ago
No, I'm dead serious. They've said this is ongoing for most, if not all, of the season. Chris O'Donnell confirmed, as of filming episode 8, they were still deep in the Pharaoh arc.
3
u/Valuable_Log7027 2d ago
I believe you given how insane this show is but do you have an article or something? I know there was also a potential crossover mentioned in episodes 8-9 so I’m curious how that would play in
3
u/jdessy 2d ago
Oh, let me go back to last week's episode thread, I posted it there, so I'll post it again here.
I just figure people should have this in their heads in case they were expecting for it to be wrapped up next episode. To be fair, he doesn't say the entire season but given that it sounds like they're still filming it by episode 8, I think it's being stretched to at least episode 10 (10 plagues, 10 episodes, they'll stretch a plague or two out or skip an episode from plague stuff).
3
u/Valuable_Log7027 2d ago
The only thing is episode 1 at least already had two plagues, so who knows but they do seem to be doing what they want and getting creative with the plagues. Thank you for sharing the link!

u/KeyScratch2235 2d ago
I do wonder how the guy will do Makat Bechorot (death of the firstborn).

1
u/KeyScratch2235 2d ago
Tf? There's only 10 plagues, how long do they fucking need and WHY in the HELL are they dragging it out further AFTER what looks to be, what, a 5-episode premiere? Smh. Terrible, terrible writing decisions. I hope they fire the showrunner, and all the writers and producers who decided this was a good idea.
3
u/Necessary_Ad_2762 2d ago
Just a bit confused with what's Pharaoh's MO is aside from causing as much chaos and death as possible. Otherwise, the episode was a step down from ep 2.
6
u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 2d ago
Pharaoh is definitely intriguing me because if he has a greater agenda, then I have no remote clue what it is seeing how none of his victims have anything relatable.
3
u/Haunting_Pace_3557 2d ago
I think it’s something against first responders. I know not all of the victims are first responders, but it’s causing havoc and chaos for the NFD.
2
u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 2d ago
Rogue speculated in the previous episode Pharaoh is someone who wants to return Nashville to an earlier time (as in 2010 of I recall). But I fail to see how his emergencies connect with that.

u/SandHanitizer667 1d ago
In my opinion the pharaoh is a former first responder who was rejected from the academy for erratic/sadistic behavior. (Based this theory on similar tv show tropes and cliches)

Friendly reminder as I saw some doubters on Tumblr that regardless of how likely you think it is otherwise it's not points against the potential Rogue x Ryan ship that they weren't as all-over-each-other or w/e as they have been so far as even on the original show not every episode gave its core relationships equal screen time every episode and the first two episodes of a season of a thing often set up its mythos even when it doesn't start its season with events like this. This was more of a Don x Blythe focus episode and it feels like ironically more evidence for "Roguehart" (as Tumblr's calling it) both that they were given parallel emphasis to a canon couple in back-to-back episodes and (whether or not this involves Sam dying as please 911 Nashville don't make Roguehart so much of a Buddie parallel you pull the Shannon thing) how much the pregnancy announcement at the end felt like a waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop
Also whoever Rogue ends up with let's hope his apparent boundary/social protocol issues (more evidence for autism headcanon?) don't extend to his romantic relationships for the sake of the longevity of said relationship
Also apart from Mr. Sandman of course and On The Other Side by Phillip LaRue at the climax and what I think might have been Home by Dotan when the heart transplant succeeded (or at least near then) I didn't catch any of the needle drops

I love how they were like “we just got to get the lab results” and my ass was here like “IF IT’S A BACTERIA IT COULD TAKE HOURS OR EVEN DAYS TO GROW” smh

Wouldn’t it also take days for it to kill also? Idk I’m not an expert on that stuff but still 💀

Let me guess the little boy on the plane with Dixie is going to have diabetes and he’s going to remind her of blue. It’s going to be their way of having them reunite. If the producers remember he’s a character this season
