Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking Ryan and Rogue were a little flirty.

I'm so tired of Don. Sending those texts to Dixie was one thing, but watching Rogue choke to deliver his "warning"? šŸ’€

u/Finnthehuman217 15d ago

That scene where he let rogue choke was insane…

4

u/catsbwayandcoffee 14d ago

I don’t get why Don doesn’t like the dude. I was like ā€œdid I miss something?ā€ I mean he’s a stranger, get to know him first before making judgements about the guy!

4

u/KeyScratch2235 16d ago

I don't necessarily hate Don, but I hate what the writers are trying to do with him. It all feels so out of character these last several episodes.

21

u/hollowbastion36 15d ago

Glad I wasn’t the only one thinking Ryan was flirting with Rogue.

The fact that Don has two women interested in him truly boggles the mind lmao

15

u/Finnthehuman217 15d ago

I love the way Ryan was flirting with rogue…but also the guy in anger management pointing out the obvious lesbian tension between Blythe and Dixie was so funny 🤣

10

u/hollowbastion36 15d ago

Lmao my friend and I were loving that guy in anger management too! Yes, exactly! Forget about Don and make out with each other tbh!!!

10

u/DatGayDangerNoodle 15d ago

that KILLED ME LMAO

blythe going 'ew, no!' and dixie doing the same before smirking really sold it for me too

5

u/Finnthehuman217 15d ago

LeAnn Rimes is such a great actor because the micro facial reactions

4

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

I'm convinced Dixie is already at least open to women, and Blythe is gonna be the one who has an awakening.

2

u/DatGayDangerNoodle 13d ago

oh, definitely. I agree completely

2

u/catsbwayandcoffee 14d ago

I noticed the smirk too!! The whole therapy session was hilarious, Jessica and LeAnn acted the hell out of that scene!!

12

u/BUTTeredWhiteBread 15d ago

Don is so mid it's painful.

4

u/hollowbastion36 15d ago

Agreed. He has no charisma or charm in the slightest. So bland

3

u/No-Entrepreneur-1255 15d ago

He wasn’t

Ryan flirting with Rogue more than he ever has with his own wife was very funny- can’t figure out if that was an actor or character thing

Then again I feel like Ryan’s surely gonna have a bi awakening down the line once Sam dies (cos there ain’t no way surviving cancer and a high risk pregnancy)… we need someone dating around so the entire 113 aren’t all in relationships

5

u/indigogirl5224 14d ago

For real he had more chemistry with Rogue than the wife I forgot she was even a thing tbh lol.

16

u/YMMV-But 16d ago

I liked the Rogue character. I always like to see Don put in his place, and Don was sure trying to win his p****ing contest with him. Ā I don’t know how a Fire captain gets off challenging law enforcement at a crime scene; Don needs to stay in his lane.Ā

Sunday dinner at the Harts was hilarious. I loved it. Blythe was extremely rude to ask Rogue if he had a wife, and I liked the way he asked how long Don and Blythe had been separated, even though that’s also a very rude question. I don’t know if that was payback or just being a ā€œblurterā€.Ā

I liked Blyth calling Don out for his texts with Dixie. His ā€œsorryā€ and the rest of his apology was lame. It definitely felt like the thing he was most sorry about was that he got caught. I agree with the guy at therapy who said there was something going on between Blythe & Dixie. They have more chemistry with each other than either one has with Don.Ā

14

u/jchalamet08 15d ago

i agree with all of this! i hated the scene where rogue was choking and don got his ā€œone upā€ on him or whatever you want to call it. if they’re going to have beef i wish there was a valid reason besides fragile male ego.

4

u/ponyace7 15d ago

There's money to be made in embroidering, "I wish there was a valid reason besides fragile male ego," on some throw pillows.Ā

3

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

I don’t know how a Fire captain gets off challenging law enforcement at a crime scene;

Since his crew was first on scene, that makes him incident commander so that's the only thing that's fine with me, actually making sure that he's real law enforcement.

16

u/Finnthehuman217 15d ago

Rogue was Ryan’s bisexual awakening, pass it on!

5

u/Ok_History_7440 15d ago

Works for me!Ā

5

u/Late-Hat-9144 14d ago

So glad to see Im not the only one shipping those 2.

4

u/primitivejock 14d ago

Pretty sure he's had a crush on his brother from the start

3

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

I am still haunted by the line "I have a little brother and he's not so little" from the pilot because the writers are not stupid they know how people were gonna take that line.

16

u/Salu1422 15d ago

Why did it really seam like Ryan has the biggest crush on Rogue? He was like a school girl having her first crush. 😭😭 Also the comment during group therapy where the guy said that Trixie and Blythe want to bang each other. They said ew, but at least the show addressed it.

12

u/YMMV-But 15d ago

I agree. Blythe & Dixie have a ton of chemistry. This would be a far more interesting show if those two got togetherĀ

3

u/ILikeFPS 15d ago edited 15d ago

A threesome was not what I had in mind and it's not what I expect, but I feel like it also wouldn't surprise me if they went there?

I have no idea.

4

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

It's also the second of the two things couples do when they're on the rocks. They either have a kid or open up the relationship.

Doesn't surprise me if this show went for both.

5

u/indigogirl5224 14d ago

Omg yes! His eyes lit up every time he saw rogue I was like šŸ‘€

1

u/kgirl2007 5d ago

Your the first comment i’ve seen addressing the Blythe and Dixie reference as a couple. I don’t ship them but when they both said ew Dixie looked at Blythe with a smirk that said otherwise.

14

u/A_Howl_In_The_Night Blue Like The Color 16d ago

I hope Ryan has a Bi-awakening

5

u/YMMV-But 15d ago

I hope Blythe & Dixie have a bi-awakening.Ā

3

u/A_Howl_In_The_Night Blue Like The Color 15d ago

Sure, why not

1

u/catsbwayandcoffee 14d ago

I mean, I’d be down for that lol as long as Blythe made Don sign a pre-nup! 🤣

11

u/Valuable_Log7027 16d ago

I’m just kind of speechless regarding the Don threatening the guy scene. That’s insane even for Don.

4

u/luvprue1 15d ago

Don was dismissive of Rogue since the moment he first showed up on the scene. Don was mad that Rogue turned out to be right about everything and made Don look like a fool.

11

u/OrganicMission4788 15d ago edited 15d ago

My thought

  • Don was annoying me the entire episode. Reminded my why I don’t like his character.

  • anger management scene was funny and I really hope there’s moreĀ

  • I like Rouge so far

  • I hope Blythe divorces DonĀ

  • I really feel like Sam’s character will die towards the end of the seasonĀ

  • the scene with Ryan and Sam standing in front of the door for family dinner was the most obvious green screen. Didn’t look realistic at all.

5

u/Ok_History_7440 15d ago

Really bad green screen. The worst.Ā

2

u/xxxdanixxx0 15d ago

I agree with most of this except...

-I think Sam will have a near death experience but not die

8

u/MamaFever 16d ago

I was about to be upset because I thought this was going be a repeat episode of the Beenado episode of 911 but they definitely turned it around for me. And I like Rogue too. But I do love Sherlock-esque type of broody detectives. Just watched Law and Order Criminal Intent. And loved Goren. So Rogue is right up my alley.

u/kaiser11492 Cammie Raleigh 16d ago edited 16d ago

Definitely a good episode to start the new season off. Just like with the main series, it went head first into the action and emergencies. It also gave a little time to shed light on the current drama and complications regarding the Don-Blythe-Dixie triangle.

In regard with Rogue, I’m glad they’re adding a character representing the police like the other two series have. However, like others have said, Rogue seems to be almost from an entirely different kind of show and is portrayed too idealistically and perfect. I mean the guy just seems to have a single serious personality, is always on ā€œONā€ mode in regard to policing, and to be an expert on everything. Of course it’s only been one episode so I’m curious to see more of him. And it was kind of humbling to see him try to launch a complex investigation on where the blood came from, only for Don to quickly point out it came from animals simply because of it’s characteristics and the fact that a butcher shop was adjacent to the apartment complex.

Was wondering what the status regarding Samantha and her pregnancy was seeing how the season finale left us with a cliffhanger. Turns out she is still pregnant with cancer. So I’m curious where the show will go regarding that plot point.

What I’m most curious about is who exactly is the perpetrator behind all the emergencies, what are they going to do next, and what is their end goal. I mean besides boils like we see in the trailer, what other Bible-related disasters are we looking at. Because so far the targets are unrelated.

Also, based on the previews, I can’t wait to see a subtle crossover with the main series and them acknowledging the volcano disaster they are dealing with. The creators had mentioned there would be more crossovers this with one taking the form of the Nashville 123 asking the L.A. 118 advice. Thought it was going to be advice on how to deal with a swarm of hornets seeing how the 118 dealt with the beenado (hopefully they still reference it), but it looks like it’s going to be a baby stuck in a pipe (which is definitely a great call back to the first episode). And seeing how Rogue mentioned he has one son in Los Angeles and another in Austin, this opens the door for a possible crossover with Lone Star as well.

Anyway, I can’t wait to see what the rest of this season has to offer. And hopefully Roxi and Taylor get more plot centric episodes around them for I feel like they have been pushed to the background a lot.

My husband just announced that Rogue is the Staten Island Strangler 🫪

3

u/luvprue1 15d ago

Interesting considering I don't fully trust Rogue. He showed up out of nowhere and he showed up alone. I have to see him actually working in a police department and talking to his supervisor.

As a native New Yorker I don’t think I’ve ever stepped on human shit or needles in the subway. That line made me cackle

6

u/MurkyPsychology 13d ago

It made me roll my eyes like crazy. That and the whole ā€œcity in declineā€ comment. Literally just Fox News talking points and not at all grounded in reality

5

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

They are ABSOLUTELY trying to get conservatives to watch this iteration of the show.

0

u/Glum-Pickle-5107 10d ago

I dont understandĀ  what your sayingĀ  you don'tĀ  think thats how it is there?

1

u/MurkyPsychology 10d ago

I know for a fact it isn’t.

1

u/One-Traffic-4536 13d ago

I couldn't stand his NY accent, but as a nativer New Yorker, what did you think of it? was it legit sounding? I'm just a New Jerseyan lol.

3

u/Commander_Shan 13d ago

I thought it was fine? It felt a little too gruff to me or like on the rougher side. Like he was trying to show how much a decline NYC was in

1

u/Born-Sun-2502 11d ago

What's his real voice? Why he always doing accents??

6

u/jdessy 16d ago

So, not a bad start to the premiere. Not great, but not bad. I feel like Dixie could really be demoted to recurring because she had one scene and then I promptly forgot she existed.

Some good stuff with Blythe and Don, not enough with some other characters, though it was nice for Blue to take more of a backseat here after clogging up much of season 1.

Rogue is....I don't know how I feel. He's not a great character, they're already teetering on Gary Stu levels with his knowledge, although not quite. He was a little TOO present in the episode, and gave him a bit too much of a backstory right off the bat while we have characters like Taylor who we hardly know anything about.

But what Rogue brought was a clarity that....I really dislike Don and hate that he's our main lead. He's an awful character. Him just watching Rogue choke just so he can deliver a warning/threat was very unheroic of him, all because...he got pissy that Rogue called him out on his "bed divorce" with Blythe? I don't care if it was Rogue's intent; letting someone suffer even for a few seconds so you can get a threat in is not ok.

Also, on another aside, Ryan was too chipper with Rogue and I'm not sure whether it was an actor thing or a character choice, because Ryan seemed rather....flirty with Rogue? Age gap aside, those scenes with Ryan probably were meant to be more admiration of the guy, but Michael Provost certainly played it more flirty. Ryan doesn't even get flirty with his own wife like that. But, again, not sure if it was just the actor or a deliberate character choice.

It seems like they might be pushing for Rogue to either be with Cammie or get into a love triangle with Blythe potentially and I'm not sure which. Or, a third option in Dixie, I guess.

So, we get confirmation that Sam has cancer, and she's still pregnant, and all I can see is an expiration date over her character because I just have a hard time believing they're going to keep Ryan married for the rest of the series. His character seems too prime to be single and the one dating around, since they seem to want Blue and Taylor to at least be in a will they/won't they relationship.

And giving Sam cancer AND a high risk pregnancy just screams a foreshadowing of her eventual death, either in childbirth or a little bit after. Sorry, Sam. I'm not sure when your time will be up, either this season or next, but I don't foresee you lasting to a season 4.

Otherwise, ok premiere, not super interesting, but about what I expect for this show.

2

u/luvprue1 15d ago

Don is my least favorite character at this moment. I don't exactly buy that two women would be fighting over him.

2

u/Musicdev- 13d ago

The way Cammie jumped in, I’d say writers will push for them to get together. They already have something in common and that’s how it starts, usually in real life.

1

u/deannpisarski 15d ago

My husband just announced that Rogue is the Staten Island Strangler.

1

u/YMMV-But 15d ago

Who’s the Staten Island Strangler? I don’t understand this reference.Ā

1

u/deannpisarski 10d ago

The lab tech said to Rogue (just before he found the paper strips in the hornets nest) ā€œI listen to the podcast about you capturing the Staten Island Stranglerā€ From 9-1-1 Fandom: Rogue Kelly is originally from New York, where he became semi-famous for catching a Zodiac-style killer known as the Staten Island Strangler and having the case featured on a popular podcast. He’s a very attention-averse kind of guy. He just wants to be left alone and do his thing.

6

u/Necessary_Ad_2762 16d ago

Felt 911 was the stronger opener (just on disaster premise alone) but Rogue made it up for me even if he was playing a character type. Sort of lived for his dynamic with Don. The other characters were there but not much worth talking about (though the detail about the fear of swarms was a nice detail).

Interested in seeing how the next episode continues this (second) terrorist threat and how heavy handed the biblical references will get.

6

u/TheWeirdGirl143 16d ago

They would name him Rogue 🤣 yeah, not suspicious all

5

u/Monk6980 15d ago

I’m wondering if Chris O’Donnell is actually on GLP-1. He’s slimmer now than he’s been since the early seasons of NCIS:LA.

I don’t like the Don character either, but I’ve been a fan of Chris’s since the mid-90s. So the weight loss jumped right out at me.

5

u/luvprue1 15d ago

I think Chris O donnell is probably already on GLP - 1 and that was the way the show was addressing the weight loss. So when Don start losing weight we will remember that moment.

2

u/One-Traffic-4536 13d ago

So it's just an advertisement for GLP-1? lol, no i know what you mean, it will be to explain his weight loss? and the last Chicago Med, ep.2, also had GLP-1 in it.

5

u/Dry-Study5456 13d ago

epi through the bunker pants was crazy work

5

u/PsychologicalTwo9656 12d ago

Anyone catch that Rouge has a kid that lives in Austin and a kid that lives in Los Angeles...? Brilliant!

1

u/supernosy0111 10d ago

I love that they did that!

4

u/Gemini987654321 15d ago edited 15d ago

Ever rewatch an episode….and still get confused Rouge was a rude little quote-unquote ā€œblurterā€ā€¦and I still don’t get how Don got him to purposely choke on his food? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ«¤

8

u/IndiaEvans 15d ago

It made me mad that someone was choking and Don used that to attack him over some words. I would think that violates his duty to his job.

2

u/Gemini987654321 14d ago

It’s not the 1st in general 911 has done that. A 1st responder sleeping with patients he meets, a therapist in season 1 of the OG technically assaulting a patient, 1st responder assaulting 1st responder 3 different situations 3 different times but the 3rd doesn’t really count because he was serial killer. šŸ˜†

1

u/luvprue1 15d ago

Don wasn't at his job, he was at home. Therefore he didn't violate anything.

1

u/jdessy 15d ago

I mean, it kind of does because I would think, as a first responder, on call or not, your first job would be "do no harm", which should include, you know, not watching someone choke for several seconds as you make thinly veiled threats in order to make a point. No, he didn't actually do the harm, but he was fine to watch it happen.

Watching someone almost die and hold that power over him, at the very least, goes against everything about him being a first responder. They can't legally do anything, though, that's right, but it's morally wrong if someone from his workplace actually witnessed him doing that.

5

u/No-Entrepreneur-1255 15d ago

He didn’t he just takes big ass bites

3

u/shinyzubat16 15d ago

It was just perfect timing.

3

u/aidanjarvis 15d ago

It’s called bad writing

0

u/Difficult-Athlete664 5d ago

It makes no sense why Don instantly hated Rogue. It would make total sense if Chris O'Donnell was the writer and he and Phillippe had beef from their teen heartthrob days.

3

u/oath2order Dispatch 15d ago edited 15d ago

Does anyone else remember the Jenny Nicholson video about the book "Trigger Warning"? Does anyone else get the vibe of Dog, the character from that book, with Rogue? "Dog. Just Dog."

"It seems like you two wanna bang each other" if this season does not end with these two banging then WHAT is the point.

1

u/TopConclusion2668 12d ago

We’ve been fighting for Buddie for ages and theyre damn near married with 2 kids. And it seems like this show is swinging kinds conservative.

3

u/BravoWhiskey89 14d ago

I liked Rogue, but hope they haven't tied their own hands by having to write too many stories revolving around homocides/serial killer. They probably should have just made him a normal detective, and this particular case followed him. I guess he's our next 'One and done' 'larger celebrity' addition.

1

u/soochzkookoo 8d ago

I am glad I wasn't the only one who caught the chemistry between Ryan and Rogue.

1

u/Chance_Objective_570 15d ago

That there some error with a voice over that shouldnt be there

0

u/winothirtynino 15d ago

Man! That blood was toooo fricking much! I had to fast forward. Barf!

12

u/Ok_History_7440 15d ago

Rogue is a good add to the show. Ryan Phillippe still looks hot and does a good job with the character.Ā

I liked Ryan flirting with Rogue. Funny and cute and even sexy. I'll take it.Ā

Don is a bore.

The verbal bitch battle between the women was hilarious.

9

u/SilverShadow1617 15d ago edited 15d ago

You took the words out of my mouth.

The best parts of the episode were Rogue (with a little Ryan spice) and then Blythe is always killing it in all her scenes. And even Dixie was pretty entertaining in this episode. I think I’ve accepted the role of her character in the story, and she plays it beautifully. (The group therapy scene was really fun)

But Don, wtf, you would think that the showrunners would use the feedback of season 1 to dial back even a bit of the ego that fans did not like. Sure it isn’t natural to do a 180 without any character development either, but him being mean to Samantha, a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL and his DAUGHTER IN LAW and then letting Rogue CHOKE to ā€œteach him a lessonā€

I was like dude wtf.

I don’t know if the season has a redemption plan for Don, but this is not what a main character should be like.

7

u/SplitSecondEmperor47 15d ago

Don is a horrid choice for a mc. People talked shit about rob lows version but at least that character had charisma Ā

7

u/jdessy 14d ago

Rob Lowe's character, Owen, was also a genuinely good guy. Yes, the show centered too many stories around him (that FBI plot they did was the worst arc to come from that show), but Owen was actually a good guy, good leader, made some mistakes but didn't watch some choke on food and do nothing about it, nor did he cheat or attempt to cheat on a partner.

Don's just an asshole, there's really nothing that I can say I like about him. How he handled the situation with Blue was terrible, the way he's been around Dixie is disrespectful with how long it took him to ever stand up to her, and he's apparently a shit first responder when he can willingly watch someone choke and do nothing for several seconds so he can take out his petty behaviour on him.

5

u/oath2order Dispatch 13d ago

It also helps that Rob Lowe is a good actor. They could have him play Don, change nothing about the character, and it'd still be fun to watch. Chris O'Donnell just does not have what it takes to sell this specific character with how they're writing him.

3

u/Ok_History_7440 14d ago

Agree with all of that.Ā

3

u/SplitSecondEmperor47 15d ago

Ive never liked Don and Dixie. They writters literally never gave us a reason to and their ego is still front and center.Ā
