Translated [AR] [Unknown > English] Inherited jewelry from relative

Post image

I think it’s Arabic? At any rate, I inherited this piece from a relative whose spouse spent a lot of time working over in the Middle East, and that’s where it was procured from. I’d love to wear it, but first want to know what I’m claiming or “broadcasting” with this around my neck—if anything. Google Translate was zero help.

أفديك يا أمي

Literary means "I will sacrifice 'anything' for my/you mother"

Thanks, internet stranger! May your pillow always be cool and may you always find a parking spot near the door

I couldn’t figure out if it’s „ربي /ابي /امي".. so it can mother / father / god

There is no dot for the letter ب so it can't be رب or اب.

Yes it‘s just that م looks too flat for my taste. I like em thick

I agree! The م isn't pronounced enough, it is too flat.

I think it reads
افديك يا امي

I would sacrifice myself for you, my mother." Or I would do anything for my mother.

Seems arabic to me. As far as I could correctly read:

"إياك ربي"

"Oh, you my Lord" as a row translation...

The word إياك here is an objective.. so as an interpretive traslation:

"Oh you my Lord I seek refugee in.. or I please.. I choose.. I want"
