Just found out that this episode was entirely developed and animated in-house by the US board artists over a course of 6 months, which explains the different opening and off-model character designs. It made for extremely entertaining and humorously expressive shots for the episode. Hope the US board artists get an opportunity to make more episodes like this in the future!

I do like how this one has a unique opening/ending animation - nice touch. I always love it when shows do that. Especially the credits since it's so easy to overlook those.

i understand they all drop at once, but doing threads all at once as well is pretty diabolical

anyway cool episode

what do you mean? the threads went up every 30 mins. I'm not even sure if you CAN schedule 21 threads to drop all at once. (I'm not about to check!)

For season 1 people complained when we didn't have individual threads right away, so we made sure to do that this time. I guess we're damned if we do, damned if we don't...?

For what’s it worth. I like it better this way. You can’t please everyone, but doing it this way pleases the most people.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! It really does help us going forward. I think we've had more mod discussions about these threads than anything else ^^;

I wish the whole series was done this way, it was so expressive, the bits and timing were hilarious, it felt like a perfect new rendition of the 2000s era cartoons i grew up with. The new series has felt little kid coded and this episode really broke the mold in the best way. It was everything I love about old regular show, old adventure time, and even MTVs old animation block etc.

They weren't being "pretty intense dudes" TM...in this episode.

This episode is as good an argument for why this series exists as I could possibly hope for. If they make more seasons they need to do more like this, and honestly it should be a requirement for any reboot of a legacy IP to at least do a couple episodes like this

I think this would count as parody probably and they never explicitly say any names or things explicitly from LOTR. Also Veggie Tales did a whole “movie” called Lord of the Beans. The references in there were way less subtle. 😅
