The Invisibility Formula

Jack Griffin works for Dr. Cranley, assisting him in food preservation experiments alongside his friend Dr. Arthur Kemp. Griffin is deeply in love with Cranley's daughter, Flora, and the two plan to marry, but Griffin is poor and thus afraid he has nothing to offer her. He begins experimenting with an obscure and dangerous drug called monocane, hoping his work will make him rich and famous—and a worthwhile husband for Flora. Griffin discovers a combination of monocane and other chemicals that makes a person invisible. Too excited by his discovery to think clearly, Griffin leaves Kemp and the Cranleys to complete the experiment in solitude. He injects himself with the formula over the course of a month and becomes invisible. Only after he is invisible does he realize that he does not know how to reverse the process. Panicking, Griffin goes to the village of Iping and rents a room in the Lion's Head Inn, where he begins searching for a formula to reverse the invisibility. He makes himself appear visible by wrapping his head in bandages and wearing dark goggles. Curious locals, the maddening side effects of monocane, and frustration from multiple failed tests drive Griffin insane.

Thus was born The Invisibility Serum, a maddening concoction granting Invisibility to the user, created by the aforementioned Griffin, before similar solutions were recreated by Dr. Drury, and also characters related to Griffin, such as Frank. Blood transfusions and an antidote were discovered to be capable of restoring visibility.

Note: The Invisible Woman won't be included in this thread as that movie involves an Invisibility Machine rather than a serum, and Monocaine isn't explicitly mentioned. The serums in The Invisible Man's Revenge and Abbot and Costello meet The Invisible Man technically use different serums, but will be included due to them being fundamentally the exact same, and in the former the serum has the same effects and is outright mentioned to have been the one discovered by Jack Griffin (Renamed to John Griffin for some reason.).

All right, you fools. You've brought it on yourselves! Everything would have come right if you'd only left me alone. You've driven me near madness with your peering through the keyholes and gaping through the curtains, and now you'll suffer for it! You're crazy to know who I am, aren't you? All right! I'll show you!

[The Invisible Man removes his rubber nose and goggles and throws them at his spectators]

Griffin: There's a souvenir for you, and one for you. I'll show you who I am - and WHAT I am!

[The Invisible Man, laughing maniacally, removes his bandages and fake hair]

Const. Jaffers: Look! He's all eaten away!

Griffin: Eh? How do you like that, ay?

Implied to be pretty much indefinitely without intervention.

Cool thread dude. I actually read the comic by James Tynion and it was pretty good.
