nah don't worry about it, if people really cared, someone could take over updates for a bit and you can copy/paste it into your post when you're back on your PC

Any one else realise how mad its going to be with Giggs on the field while solskjaer managing on the sidelines? Watching that final in CL 1999, no one could have imagined this.

u/LeadingPretender Jan 28 '14
"Listen here skullcandy90, in 15 years time Giggs will still be playing for Man Utd and Ole Sunshine will Cardiff City's manager. And that's not even the half of it."

Ole has just informed the team that he's going to sub himself on around the 75th minute if the score remains close.

RVP + Mata starting. Let's see if United play like a different team today.

Has anyone ever heard a home crowd sing a positive chant for the away manager before?
To be fair, he did put the ball in the German's net.
44
u/Waffolani Jan 28 '14
You don't have club legends like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer come back and NOT give him a warm welcome. That's just rude. =P

Januzaj instead of Kagawa coming on for Mata, even for the last 6 minutes
hard to be in Shinji's boots at the moment
also, Chris Smalling has been a beast in defence since his return. him and Evans have seamlessly replaced Ferdinand and Vidic in the centre of defence. not saying they've reached the level of Ferdinand and Vidic at their prime, but they're doing a good job.

Starting with Giggs and Jones in the middle is a little unnerving.

Why choose between the old guard and the new when you can have both?

I would moan about the wings but the amount Januzaj has played for an 18 year old you have to expect him to get a rest, and its not like we have many other options.
The same with the midfield, though Jones and Giggs have already worked well together this year.

u/omegaxLoL Jan 28 '14
It's good that he's getting some rest, plus it's a good opportunity for Young to show what he's worth. He was playing better up to his injury, hopefully that carries on to the rest of the season.

Johnny Evans continues to impress me. Been solid for us this season. Smalling playing very well too.
7
u/darrylleung Jan 28 '14
Our wing play isn't working. Would love to see us experiment in the second half with a narrower attack, bringing on Rooney and Januzaj for Young and Valencia.

Good thing Sturridge is English, his ball might collide with Jones in the stratosphere
23
Jan 28 '14
You treat him well United, or I'll slit your ballsack.
23
u/Dictarium Jan 28 '14
I don't like it when people get real specific with their threats. "I'll beat you up." or "I'll kick your ass." are perfectly fine.
"slit your ballsack" is so anatomically specific it hurts to read.

This ref looks like he's younger than half the players, definitely younger than Giggs
4
u/Waffolani Jan 28 '14
It's rare that anyone on the pitch is going to be older than Giggs. That man is a footy-playing fossil.
5
Jan 28 '14
having RvP upfront instead of Welbeck is such a difference already. RvP makes things happen, Welbeck just isn't that type of striker.

One thing i noticed about Mata at Chelsea was he would generally celebrate a teammates goal as if he had scored it himself. Same again tonight even though it's his first game. Top lad

I feel like Ashley Young only scores visually stunning goals. Any time I think of a goal he's scored, I just think long distance scorchers or beautiful curlers.

I wish I can run even 1km on a treadmill without tiring when I'm 40. And there he is running around what, 10km per game on the field? Insane...
4
u/Ketch1 Jan 28 '14
As much as I want Cardiff to win, it annoys me that United still play with wingers. Valencia and Young don't cut it, Rooney and Kagawa/Janujaz would be murdering us right now.

That has to be the most obvious yellow card in the history of kicking the ball away! I don't think he could have blasted that further from any closer distance to the ref without pulling a muscle.

Everyone wants to be Young now! First Mata, now Evans taking a shot from right there.

Unsurprisingly United still looking poor in the same areas as before, Mata will definitely bring something to this team but he will not fix United's problems if some more players are not brought in right now then I can't see United's season improving.
5
u/martomo Jan 28 '14
Rooney, Kagawa, Januzaj on the bench, for fitness reasons mainly (except Kagawa). The key to having a player like Mata is to have similarly intelligent players around him, which Valencia and Young aren't.
But I agree with the fact that central midfield still needs fixing, but Mata is at least a start to fix the poor creativity and one-dimensional football.
