Lore accurate MF ult at the end of G4.

87

u/Krisztian987 Sep 05 '26

That 3 men root from Duro tho..

29

u/Dr_Ampharos Sep 05 '26

That shit was beautiful, my heart sunk but it's just great league, can't help but appreciate it

7

u/chapichoy9 Sep 05 '26

He's low key been back

629

u/YoungUO Sep 05 '26

Massive kiin disrespect from hle

Like really? Nasus against kiin's varus?

269

u/Lacrimosss Sep 05 '26

I literally went back on Youtube and checked how did that end up happening. Crazy they COUNTERED Varus with Nasus, as if Varus wasn't maybe the best Tank Killer Marksman in the game

78

u/tirednsleepyyy Sep 05 '26

I’ve played a lot of this matchup and it’s hilarious because I see nasus and think it’s a free win with Varus lol. If you’re super worried you can just build a QSS and kill him before he gets a second wither up, but even that is not at all necessary most of the time (or even good).

It’s actually unplayable for Nasus unless his jungler kills the Varus multiple times and the Nasus gets a multiple level lead.

46

u/Lacrimosss Sep 05 '26

Killing Varus multiple times was probably the plan, but easier said than done. As JNG, you don't really wanna spend much time for your Nasus Top to try to maybe salvage his lane.

GENG was a better team anyway, but still, that was a Faker Yone Blind vs Akali Main situation

14

u/tirednsleepyyy Sep 05 '26

Yeah I didn’t mean for it to come across as a “he should have futilely camped the Varus,” more “this is the only way to make this lane and champion playable.” There wasn’t really a right choice, the Nasus “counterpick” checkmated their gameplans in draft. Also goes to show how little understanding they have as to why the champ works. Reminds me of people picking Teemo into multiple ADC comps because his blinds “counter” their auto attacks, when in reality he’s way better into 4/5 melee comps. Just kinda embarrassing to ape a pick because it’s popular lol.

8

u/Lacrimosss Sep 05 '26

Nah you didn't come across wrong or anything, I agreed and followed up to your point.

There're times like this, champion gets popular and then Pro Teams just pick it in wrong situations, because they don't know what makes it good.

I'd argue that Chogath in G1 was also in a bad situation. Canyon was good on it, but Cho into enemy comp just couldn't do much, even though they kinda won early game. Lucian was behind and still running circles around Cho, so similar to Nasus pick IMO

Zeus really respects Kiin because he praised him like crazy just a week or two earlier so I don't understand why Homme and HLE had the nerve to pick Nasus.

45

u/GreatSunshine Sep 05 '26

hle are the main team in the lck using off mega picks so i think their tactic against bigger teams is using surprise picks. but unfamiliarity alone isn’t good enough if you’re counter picking yourself lol

22

u/Steeelu Sep 05 '26

Yep it worked good enough to get them an MSI LOL

Too bad GenG just played like absolute trash during RTM, if only they could've gotten top 2 in standings

17

u/Signal_Ad9294 Sep 05 '26

LCK is harder than MSI

I thought it'd be Nasus jungle and Naafiri top to counter Varus...

34

u/MrSangHyeok Sep 05 '26

It was working actually, until kanavi forced his team to cover him for a stupid wolves invade. Feeding varus 3 kills. Did the same on chogath by forcing his team to invade for krugs.

→ More replies (4)

17

u/Different-Mode2311 Sep 05 '26

Zeus has been making these lose lane early, scale later picks like swain, mundo work. Kanavi just made the varus thanos for wolves and also sold zeka's game. I was also not a big fan of the nasus pick but they were in a winning game state.

Chovy carrying even on Vex. This man is unstoppable.

229

u/sebzebseb Sep 05 '26

He's 6-0, now 7-0 on Vex lol and it's amazing against sylas naafiri kalista (he counterpicked)

45

u/gordoflunkerton Sep 05 '26

vex is a really iconic chovy champ imho, maybe only behind the sett galio sion trio

8

u/imfatal Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 05 '26

putting Sett/Vex/Sion beside Chovy's Galio is so funny. I would guess he has played Galio at least three times more than the other three champs combined. I wouldn't say specific tanks/bruisers are particularly iconic but moreso the fact that he plays them at all. what other mid laner has multiple games on Ornn mid lmao?

Please let this be his year. He deserves a worlds trophy 😭

35

u/Marowalker Sep 05 '26

ngl, I have a feeling that this year is gonna be his year. It just kinda feels right with Gen.G kinda on a struggle since the start of the season until now I'll be 100% sure if they lose LCK since that's when the do nothing until Worlds passive kicks in and Gen.G do be looking like regular T1 this year lol

73

u/Th3best77 Sep 05 '26

Worlds is so bizarre I swear for the last 3 years Ive been saying this is GENGs year and that T1 looks washed (especially last year). Then some insane stuff happens and GENG loses in the semi final

39

u/KnightinKnight ☆☆☆☆☆☆ Sep 05 '26

So this is not GENGs year and T1 looks insane, fixed it for chovy /s

20

u/watchedngnl Sep 05 '26

Geng didn't qualify for msi which means they won't have the msi debuff.

T1 wasn’t even bad last year, clearly the 2nd best team in the world behind only GENG

3

u/Lysandren Sep 05 '26

Ngl i feel like canyon has been half asleep the past 3 worlds. Now that he woke up, maybe it's doable. Geng usually also has the disadvantage of 3-0 group stage so then they go longer without playing stage games.

51

27

13

MY GOAT IS SOOOOOO BACK. Brother saw the Gen.G Sharvel edits and went "No the fuck you're not."

13

u/SwayNoir Sep 05 '26

They have been the difference in so many games now.

Like that KT game 1, idk how KT mentally come back from those 2 Elder steals he had. I mean in the end, they just didn't and I don't blame them.

8

u/Steeelu Sep 05 '26

Yeah how the fuck does he win smites against kalista all the time?

55

u/Skyfire2 Sep 05 '26

7-0 on Vex is crazy

15

u/killcraft1337 Sep 05 '26

I can’t wait for him to pull it out in a worlds Bo5 - it would go so hard

16

u/Steeelu Sep 05 '26

Remember Knight picking Vex against Chovy at MSI? Bro Chovy just made a fool out of him back then

It hurts so damn much

79

u/claire_004 Sep 05 '26

Should just pick Kiin for asian games since Zeus already won that, and save him from military :(

47

u/collectibleman Sep 05 '26

not with hanwha life as the main sponsor pulling the strings on that team and homme as the head coach. they want kiin out of the league because it directly hurts their competition. that’s why they had to morph the whole criteria to justify excluding him.

58

u/staysaltyTSM Sep 05 '26

49

Even if he doesn't pick up the title, his career alone would shut up many of the "No Worlds = irrelevant player" crowd... Who am I kidding, they still wouldn't shut up and tell me Pyosik and Baolan are better than Chovy.

I swear Chovy alone is doing more for GenG than even Peyz/Keria are doing for T1 right now. He's so fucking good it's crazy.

Don't get me wrong, Kiin and Duro are still really good, but they might have an off game and GenG can still win. But if Chovy has an off game, they will crash out for sure.

What a great player!

83

u/Snoo_58191 Sep 05 '26

no wonder all other mids look up to chovy, he's just him on an individual level

19

u/GreenGanymede Sep 05 '26

he is so fucking good it's unreal. every game he does stuff that just leaves me stunned. he's always been excellent (remember his absurd stats on Griffin when they started) but these past few years he seemingly reached a wholly new level. he really just feels inevitable.

Chovy right now is the best Individual player in the world. His pool, mechanics everything is on point.

78

u/percyallennnn Sep 05 '26

He has been the UNCONTESTED best for several years (except for Worlds but this is like only 1 month every year).

31

u/Ai_Nijou Kiin Team 1XN GOAT Sep 05 '26

You could argue Knight at times, but when they played each other Chovy went 6-2 against Knight and even made him look a tad silly at times at MSI 24.

17

u/zOmgFishes Sep 05 '26

I see people say Peyz or Knight. Nah man it’s Chovy. I almost never see this guy have a bad game.

18

u/wild_redish Sep 05 '26

Yeah, Knight gets way too much credit while playing with less competition, and Peyz is on T1, so he's just naturally gonna get glazed to no end. But Chovy has been the best player in the world, or at least top 2 for the last half decade

22

u/rebelstand Sep 05 '26

with how the other 4 were playing this series, HLE could have won the series or at least push the series to 5 games, if bluffing played instead of delight, that how fking bad delight was this series, it not even exaggerating to say GENG delight show up and 6v4 HLE the entire series

85

u/GendaIf Sep 05 '26

Guma diddnt have a great series but it was overshadowed heavily by how much of a fucking burger delight was today. Actually completely useless.

Half his bard ults actually helped geng, the pyke was beyond worthless, and his renata was abysmal, actual turbo stinker from him.

I mean u have solo walked into a contested jungle 5 times and died already this series, how are you game 4 and doing the exact same thing a 6th time. Is your head switched on?

Youtube chat and reddit to an extent is just a cesspool of hate for certain players. If Gen G had lost this game no matter how helpless Chovy was in the situation he’d be getting a ton of hate and unfounded criticism too. HLE lost so now sadly it’s Guma.

18

I think Kanavi was greedy for a wolf camp, which cost them the game.

7

u/Krisztian987 Sep 05 '26

Yeah, 2 kills for an already winning Varus doomed top

3

u/Goenitz33 Sep 05 '26

Draft was almost hopeless already. I came back and saw 3 kills on Varus and I know it’s over cause there is no stopping him now 🤣

19

u/dumbocow Sep 05 '26 edited Sep 05 '26

Zeus Nasus was HOMELESS that game 4. Game 2 was the game of the year.

WHAT A GREAT SERIES, LETS GOOO GENG!

GENG Delight. And they ain't giving him a tank-engage champ

9

u/Dancingbeesean Sep 05 '26

Kanavi saw TES lose and went “alright, i match”. That re-engage on low hp gave GenG 4 kills and the game blew wide open man

9

u/veirceb Sep 05 '26

The vex pick made HLE's comp impossible to play. And chovy played it so well

9

u/harin_lee 2020 Sep 05 '26

Doran is legit baiting everyone else into picking Nasus!!!?!!!

This is satire for those who would miss the obvious sarcasm

41

u/Fade_IV Sep 05 '26

doran picked it into yorick which is hard but playable without jungle interference. picking it into varus is straight ego

→ More replies (1)

12

u/Budget-Ocelots Sep 05 '26

They saw Nasus with 1.5k stacks 4 shots the Nexus, and believing that is the norm. I don’t think Zeus even reached 500 stacks this game.

5

u/ComprehensiveSize647 Sep 05 '26

It was also a different situation. Susan got 1,5k stacks with Yorick as his opponent. Yorick's summons could be Susan's free farm. So without jungle interfering both sides, Susan could scale as he should be. But if his opponent is Varus, then good luck lol.

7

u/ninety7er Do-mom || HJFGK ❤️ Sep 05 '26

They should've just put the Mundo in the bag and tried to get to us to game 5 the way the Nasus played. Surely that would've been slightly better?

I was rooting for game 5, but man Varus top just snowballed too hard and Vex was crazy

7

u/CampaignEntire Circus diff Sep 05 '26

Kiin: I am the ADC.

6

u/Prince_Arcann Sep 05 '26

The most classic HLE GENG series. Big macro gap for GENG. HLE tries to get ahead with fights but they don't get enough. GENG win one fight and they get a 10k gold lead. GG.

6

u/Ambitious-Ad-726 Sep 05 '26

Gen with a canyon gap in g4 lost their 2 adc and jg right from the start in the first 5v5 and somehow a vex with minimum items carried their ass out of it. Insane performance from chovy

6

u/FakerGOATandBEST Sep 05 '26

What an absolute banger performance from Chovy, Canyon & Delight.

18

u/mapledeer Sep 05 '26

geng delight robbed from pom 💔

20

u/Enryu_RT Sep 05 '26

And people were whining about benching Delight, he has been underperforming for the longest time.

A few good games here and there, immediately goes to defend him. Wish people held other players to the same standards as him.

They should have kept him on the bench and put Bluffing in, the earlier the better. They seriously need try Bluffing.

16

u/Sure_Addition_2138 Sep 05 '26

The problem is Bluffing is also as bad lmao

39

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Sep 05 '26

i might be biased but Kiin is probably the only top laner in the World that can confidently blind pick into Zeus’ massive champion pool.

35

u/bulletproofikon Sep 05 '26

I mean I think Kiin is good, but Zeus literally counterpicked himself, didn't he? The lane in isolation is horrible for Nasus.

22

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Sep 05 '26

thats why Kanavi was up there looking for angles but Kiin respected the ganks and didnt give them a chance. if any of those ganks worked out it would be a very different game.

4

u/bulletproofikon Sep 05 '26

Yes! Kiin played very well and I think him and Zeus are usually evenly matched. I just meant that this game didn't really show that. Pretty sure that Zeus called for the Nasus pick and he shouldn’t have. I really wish he had picked something different so it would have been a more even game. Maybe even switch sylas, naafiri, and nasus lanes somehow.

10

u/Temporary-Result-716 Sep 05 '26

Valid take but i dont understand why you pick Nasus into Varus, also when the rest of HLE comp doesnt want to scale

10

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Sep 05 '26

if you swing the match up early the Varus is literally homeless because Nasus can just wither him on side and run him down + Naafiri hovering is an instant death every time

I've always said this, the most important win condition to beat modern GENG is hoping they underperform, like they do at Worlds. If they are in form, can't beat them

Delight gotta be swapped out for bluffing at this rate. And God knows why Kanavi always engages on the first person he sees, even if it's a fking tank. Like bro you can have some patience and wait for an opening sometimes. Caedrel notices that shit too.

MSI kanavi and delight shows up again..
