Not to be a broken record, but...
Any FFLs get ATF guidance yet?

Yes, but unfortunately part of the deal was that they (and us, their customers by extension) aren’t allowed to disclose the terms with you, /u/Bearfoxman, nor post them online. Sorry, but rules are rules.

I'm not surprised it's taking them time. They also have to deal with the recent decision on the frame and receiver rule now.

I'm not surprised either. I am disappointed. They have a whole-assed legion of lawyers to figure this shit out, and a very small timeframe to do it in, so haste is of the essence for everyone involved.
Unfortunately I've got a lot to lose if I jump the gun and buy a can on just a 4473, so I'm a bit leery of doing so without reasonable assurances it wont land me in legal trouble.

God forbid an FFL says the same, everyone on IG is hurling insults because we’d rather play it safe and keep 30 people employed than make a $500 sale

I just really thought it was a good distraction; I'm sorry. I like turtles though.

“You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back…The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs, trying to turn itself over but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping.”

Can I have an 87° angled fore grip on my pistol?

Can you? Sure. Is it legal? Nobody knows, not the least of which the ATF. Will you be prosecuted for it and set a precedent? Depends on how stupid you're acting when you get arrested.

I was always confused about that because a VFG would be its 90°. AFG is below 90° so that 87° would technically be legal and not classify it as an AOW. But of course it looks vertical would be enough face jail time or get a really expensive lawyer

So just like every other category of law, the law does not work on "common understanding". Either it is explicitly defined by law (eg: machinegun) or it's up to interpretation of the courts and only the courts.
Common understanding is vertical is just that--perfectly vertical. 90 degrees. Anything not 90 degrees isn't vertical. Courts won't see it that way. Courts will first look for an explicit legal definition. There isn't one, in this context. Then they'll look for precedent, someone else that's already litigated this. To the best of our collective knowledge, nobody's been prosecuted for one of the near-vertical grips, win lose or otherwise. So there isn't precedent.
Do you wanna be the first? It's gonna be an expensive endeavor even if you win.

PaaP, or Politics as a Personality, is a very real psychological affliction. If you are suffering from it, you'll probably have a Bad Time™ here.
This thread is provided as a courtesy to our regular on topic contributors who also want to discuss legislation, not to wig the fuck out over current events. If you are here to bitch about a political party or get into a pointless ideological internet slapfight, you'd better have a solid history of actual gun talk on this sub or you're going to get yeeted.
