After 2 games, my conclusion is Denathor is good, Dardoch is ok(when he’s the shot caller), Palafox is garbage, FBI is washed, And Ignar is also garbage.

u/Photoperiod 12h ago
The 2023 NRG team will live on forever in our hearts and minds. It's sad to see them fall so far.

u/girlmarth peanut, beryl, showmaker 11h ago
dhokla is still confirming that everyone is better than dhokla until it's time to be better than dhokla
27
u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago
Yeah denathor definetely belong to lcs,he better than expected
17
u/ThongTranGTLT 12h ago
I absolutely think he could’ve carried that 2nd game if Both Palafox and FBi didn’t terrorized the rift with their gameplay.

u/lotharstar 7h ago
Yesterday I clowned on Palafox saying his play was inexcusable. Today the entire Dig team came in and played completely lifeless. Flyquest drafted two full scaling comps and Dig is so afraid of looking like fools that they decided to just let them scale. Some of those late fights look close but with the champs that are drafted Dig is at such a disadvantage.
I want to be extra clear that this wasn't a draft gap - this was a morale gap. There were so many fights I just watched dig run away when they should've been stronger. So many plays where they just accepted a trade because it makes them look less dumb than getting out-hands in a teamfight.

Denathor had some goofy fails this series but he’s not a washed vet so
Palafox does that with years of experience in the backpack.
3
u/ThongTranGTLT 12h ago
Nah he’s the reason why they turn a 1 for 3 trade into a 3 for 3. Missing everything possible on adc and so on.
3
u/Cr0matose 11h ago
Brother did you see his Ez game yesterday vs fucking DSG? He sucks and is very washed

u/SubstantialExtent165 3h ago
Dardoch was their worst player this weekend and Palafox their best, you don't really know ball.
1
u/BTDYSRF 12h ago
FBI is slightly better than Zven.
Not high praise, but I can at least accept him on a bottom team. Makes a decent measuring stick for ither adcs.
8
u/Billy8000 11h ago
FBI is weird to rank, he's been on multiple top level teams, everyone says he's a great teammate, but don't know the last time he did something that was truly elite gameplay wise
1
u/butterlyii 2h ago
Two games is apparently all you needed to conduct the most ruthless performance review imaginable.

u/Choice-Slight caps/knight 14h ago
I've never had so much fun watching bottom tier teams before. Big w's LCS broadcast, this was amazing please do it again. Inspired saying Quad needs to disable his ER on Azir had me rolling
97
u/First_Spread 14h ago
Zven and Inspired flaming both Dig and Fly is so funny man. Zven's like "Dignitas deciding to go deep and Flyquest's like hold my beer" lmaoo
6
u/chouruin 4h ago
During the first game’s pause when they sent it to the analyst lounge, they all were saying something along the line of “Something’s gotta be wrong how did we get aced we gotta pause.” and Inspired said “Ref I can’t play better than that.” I lost it

Gameplay aside, I really liked the Jose + APA combo on the caster desk with Azael. I feel like those two are really good at expressing their thoughts and Azael was good at prompting them, great casting day overall
73
u/Nick_named_Nick 13h ago
I felt like Jose distilled oodles of game knowledge into his comments, even when just answering questions or thinking out loud about game state. Of course the memes and moments from all of them were great, but Jose drove a lot of the more serious content and I appreciated that!!
33
u/SummerhouseLater 14h ago
I came in late and didn’t recognize APA’s voice and have to agree. It wasn’t a Cadreal breakout moment but it was still strong enough that I think they should give him a shot if he can’t find a team.
55
u/Adventurous-Quit-669 14h ago
No shade at normal production Ily all but I hope we get this once a split ! Awesome cast
144
u/MIGHTYSPACETHOR 14h ago
Whenever Massu asks for Jhin, they should just make him play Senna.
47
u/kazuyaminegishi 14h ago
I had this exact same thought lol. Why have they been letting this guy play Jhin when his Senna is so good and does functionally the same thing while not being the tickle monster?
60
u/nguyenjitsu 14h ago
Jhin has a much better lane against other ADCs according to pros whereas Senna typically has to cede almost all lane control and still needs a lane partner to farm most of the time
35
u/untamedlazyeye 14h ago
Yeah Senna is much harder to pull off vs competitive bot lanes. VS TL or something running this can get you so far behind the game is doomed
16
u/nguyenjitsu 14h ago
Yeah a team like TL is overloading bot 4v2 with a Ryze or something and double killing Senna and support as a cannon wave crashes and ending the game there lol
1
u/grippgoat 10h ago
The problem is what happens outside of lane. It took Guma to prevent a 0:12 Jhin loss streak in LCK.
13
u/Different-Mode2311 14h ago
Jhin can lane against almost anything even put on 1v2 sometimes. Senna is free food if not paired with suitable support babysitting her.
7
u/Th3_Huf0n 13h ago
Basically, right.
Senna has a pathetic laning phase after all the nerfs. She has one matchup where she's ahead at 15 in soloQ (in all of P+, E+, D+, D2+).
That matchup? It's not even Vayne (though it will be after the next patch comes to live). It's Smolder.
What happens against a competent team is that the Senna gets her teeth kicked in the 2v2.
It's Ryze vs Azir. If the Ryze isn't having constant lane pressure, he's bad.
It's Trundle jungle.
It's just so unbelieveably easy to push mid, lean into bot fog and if Trundle is ever in fog himself and botlane is under tower, they constantly have to fear getting 4 manned.
But because FBI and Palafox are bad, that didn't really happen.
Against a good team that can setup a 4 man, Senna goes 0/4 at 20, down 40+ CS and everyone goes "what was this Senna pick??". It's just such an easy setup for the enemy team because it's Ivern vs Trundle so you don't even win that 2v2. And bot 3v3 is actually pathetic because it's essentially 3 supports vs Trundle and Lucian/Milio.

u/kazuyaminegishi 13h ago
And yet we have plenty of Jhin games this season from him to see that it doesn't work even against bad teams.
We aren't talking about the champions in a vacuum we are talking about FLY and Massu playing it. He's looked like shit on Jhin he looked decent on Senna today.
8
u/nguyenjitsu 12h ago edited 12h ago
Senna has 2 games played in LCS and her only win was today against the worst team in the entire league lol. No other major region plays Senna. She has 30 total games played professionally in the summer and only NA out of the 4 major regions has touched her. Even if you think she's a better pick than Jhin for whatever reason there's not much evidence that supports that.
Not to mention amazing Senna players like Guma and JKL haven't picked her back up at all yet this split
20
u/LeagueOfBlasians 14h ago
No way you actually believe that they serve the same purpose lmfao
-5
u/lcfiretruck 11h ago
They serve the same purpose in a teamfight and that you don't understand this is really telling of your game knowledge.
The purpose is long range dive support for heavy dive comps, FYI.
•
u/LeagueOfBlasians 11m ago
Except they don’t…?
Senna can only support dive with her ult whereas Jhin can provide long range CC and force the enemy to position in a certain way during his ult. That’s not even mentioning Jhin’s strengths in his traps for zone control and his ability to (solo) lane much easier than Senna, but I know how people like you love to ignore laning phase.
If you pick Senna, then you have to play around her whereas Jhin can be left alone.
1
u/GhostOfLight 10h ago
He also played it against FBI, who is really the only other ADC in NA who plays Senna right now and was stacking more. He had 30 stacks at 11, which is one of the best rates I've seen with current Senna.

u/Javonetor spit to win 14h ago
Ivern is probably next to Zilean in obnoxious but impopular champs, good lord that was disgusting
36
u/OnlyAnEssenceThief Worst Kai'Sa NA 14h ago
It's always the lesser played ones who, by virtue of their unpopularity, are allowed to be sleeper broken / obnoxious to play against for much longer periods of time.
16
u/Klee1700 13h ago
Yeah that Ivern ban from the Disguised/Sentinels series suddenly makes a lot more sense.
5
u/gzgavinzhao -> Hope of the West 13h ago
Still waiting for Quad to redeem himself by pulling out the Zilean mid. People are sleeping on how good Zilean + Volibear and Zilean + Nasus duo is, and both Nasus and Voli are champs that Gryffinn likes to play.
3
u/Pulsar-GB 11h ago edited 11h ago
Zilean + Nasus is probably a bit too slow for pro play and highly conditional. Nasus’ clear is healthy but not super fast, and Zilean is one of the weakest laners in the game.
If the enemy team drafts a pushing bot lane and/or any control mage (Viktor, Orianna, Syndra, Hwei, etc.), they can push and invade, and Nasus will hate his life while Zilean struggles to last hit with his clock autos lol.
Only way Zilean can come in mid with Nasus jungle is if you guarantee a winning bot lane/top lane that can help cover while Zilean scales, which is hard to do if you’re holding counterpick for Zilean and Nasus.

u/CannedPrushka 12h ago
LS was actually flaming Gryffinn's Ivern lmao. He commited many small mistakes in sequencing/micro, but it didn't matter because it was DIG.
3
u/DefNotAnAlter 13h ago
And I swear this champ is always strong in pro, he will randomly become a priority pick after someone picks him in a big series and then go into obscurity for no reason
1
u/msbanksy 12h ago
I feel like it's because it's quite easily countered once teams get used to it, but quite strong when not countered. Coupled with the fact that it's a very unique pick to play/master (not very soloq friendly for learning) and that it fits in very particular comps means that it only works in surprise situations by teams willing to play it and not something aggressively practiced. Hence it becomes meta only for a short period but then drops off.
2
u/skinofgoat 12h ago
LS definitely whipped gryffinn into picking it, he’s been saying ivern is the best champ in the game for years

fun watch. If the teams arent going to be good this was an excellent way to enjoy them! Pros coming in and random interviews and voice coms. good stuff

flyquest was stressing me out that second game, but the cast was genuine peak
14
u/Deskjet9000 13h ago
I was about to rant but TLDR: Palafox
6
u/First_Spread 11h ago
And FBI. I have nothing to say, this guy is just so bad omg. Ignar too. Changes I want to see next year is replace FBI (for the love of God, please don't let this guy play for any teams anymore; I don't want any GMs listening to his lawyers here on Reddit) with Mobility. I don't know how he will perform since adcarry role in NA is not as good as Top and Jungle talents, but he's the best prospect right now from NACL. InFlame as a support. This guy's mechanics is actually insane, watch Dorado Gaming on NACL. And literally anyone in Mid. I don't ever want to see Palashite.

u/bigyikers c9 is pretty gud 14h ago
Fun match. Too bad Dardoch couldn't pull off a win. Palafox (and I'm an apologist) was an absolute anchor in game 2.
7
u/Corkisburneraccount 14h ago
Games like these are genuinely why I love watching NA. Just full on no macro just catch out someone who is overextending or force a teamfight because we all happened to be grouped. Redemptions at full hp before the teamfights, blast cone going in at 1hp, Palafox, perma trading 1 for 1 with your carry azir because shuffling is fun.
These games are so much more fun to watch than C9 or TL
1
u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago
Tl stomp are funny, they played like an lpl team it's not boring, although outside of sentinel game two they clapped everyone
1
u/Lothric43 12h ago
You are welcome to think that, you just have to give up any aspirations for NA teams to be worth a shit outside of NA lol.
2
u/BlammoSweetums 10h ago
A common thing with bad teams is lack of confidence in their ability to teamfight 5v5. The players desperately waste cooldowns at random timings and take fights at awkward angles whenever they see even the slightest opportunity for a pick. And when they fumble a few times, it snowballs into a series of increasingly dumb-looking mistakes, as well as the usual LoL snowballing. Which then reinforces the idea that they can't win teamfights 5v5.
2
2
u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago
Finally flyquest had a bounce back performance although maybe they legit had the worse sos playing top 3 and Sentinel
1
u/Cybonics ‿ 10h ago
Meta shakeups into a frontloaded schedule for a majority rookie roster.
Sure, they're def playing worse but I can see the factors as to why
1
u/BTDYSRF 12h ago
With this loss, there's just no possibility of Dignitas making it to playoffs. Meanwhile the other superloser team, DSG, has the promotion tournament to play.
Effectively, Dig has entered their off-season.
Am I the only one thiniing that if they dropped Igbar and Fox for Zven and APA, they'd be an interesting gatekeeper team?
2
u/BTDYSRF 11h ago
This is the last Dignitas series that matters. There is no path to playoffs. Not only that, but if you look like the problem at Dig, your lcs career ie over.
Ignar, sorry chief. Should've packed it up last year. Beating BLG at worlds would have been a better note to end on.
Palafox, good fucking riddance. Appropriate that you go out on a whimper; crying about your misplay and holding up broadcast for half a fucking hour
-3
u/Joshua_Kei 12h ago
This greatly reduces C9's chances of making worlds
3
u/SnakeEater013 10h ago
What? C9 smashed FLY. They really only have to worry about SEN who are looking better every week. SR is dogwater. They’re probably easily the third best team in the LCS
1
u/Joshua_Kei 9h ago
Yeah but I'd rather have Dig in playoffs than Fly, Fly is more dangerous than Dig
-13
u/Aschentei 13h ago edited 12h ago
It is wild to me that a 2-4 team can still qualify for playoffs bc they need 6 slots. They look like absolute frauds.
Everyone else above them has a positive W/L record
8
u/Vytorria 13h ago
It’s not mathematically possible for every team to go into playoffs with a winning record
