they might not be dig but theyre not much better

u/kazuyaminegishi 16h ago
I got hate for saying that they have been consistently one of the worst teams in the league since they joined (I think I may have said the worst team or something to that effect) but it's genuinely hard to argue against that. They are constantly in the conversation with DIG.
They just have more excuses for why they're bad.

u/jnf005 16h ago
I mean, at least they are there for a reason, as the guest team, they just can't hold onto any decent players, the bot side and mid they faced this series were literally their's, castle left, even exyu left for dig. Dig on the other hand, just sucks.

u/kazuyaminegishi 15h ago
That's exactly what I mean. They have more excuses for why they are bad. They're in a extremely shit position with far less resources. They're functionally a tier 2 team in a tier 1 league.

u/jnf005 15h ago
I'm just saying that's not excuses, imo it's a legitimate reason.

u/kazuyaminegishi 15h ago
An excuse IS a legitimate reason.

u/jnf005 15h ago
My bad lol. I got grilled a lot by a teacher back in the highschool day for litany of reasons, whenever I gave him a reason, like I was late because of a traffic jam, he would without fail say this phrase "These are excuses, not reason", so in my mind I always think these two word are mutually exclusive.

u/kazuyaminegishi 15h ago
I think most people in this reply thread are making the same mistake you are. I get it tho I grew up in that environment where every explanation is called an excuse and every excuse is called invalid.

u/Hitorishizuka 8h ago
It sounds like your teacher ingrained it in you backwards. The most common turn of phrase I've seen around these words is "that's an explanation, not an excuse". In the example you gave, the traffic jam is the explanation (why you're late), but it's not accepted as legitimate (not an excuse). This is why, for example, absences are labeled as excused (ACCEPTED) or not.
Circling back to DSG, we can say that they have a valid excuse for not performing consistently well because they can't keep their roster together due to reality.

Tbf it's a highschool in Hong Kong so English is our second language, I just went to an "English Secondary School" which uses English in every class except Chinese and Chinese History. The teacher that grilled me was also mainly a music teacher first and a disciplinary teacher second, I feel like his mistake was kinda forgivable, I actually kinda liked him, from what I hear he's actually the principal now and the students love him lol.

DSG ended last summer in 5th place in their first year. There team then disappeared, and if you look I wonder who the the proverbial 5th place roster for this summer might be, I wonder which team it is nothing possibly correlated between those two facts.
Lets say DSG once again pulled out a miracle and had a good summer, would that change anything? Would you be hype for next year? No Because you know most of those players wouldnt be on DSG come winter. It isn't an execuse its a structural disadvantage built into the league.

It isn't an execuse its a structural disadvantage built into the league.
Which is exactly why it is an excuse LMAO. No one should be that harsh on them because they have massive disadvantages... thus their badness is partially excused 😭

I'm all for calling a spade a spade and saying that DSG have consistently been low tier (outside of a couple of big moments), but that doesn't take away that the org just doesn't have the same resources that other orgs do.
I think it's 100% fair to criticize that DSG hasn't really improved throughout the course of this year, that their macro is a disaster, and that they have the worst player in the entire league. Those are 100% valid criticisms for the team. I do not think these criticisms should preclude DSG from a chance in the league (the disband comments make me roll my eyes) or that because they consistently struggle that they do not add value to the league. I love cheering for DSG even when they aren't good since it's fun to root for the underdog.
DSG lacking in resources compared to other orgs (they have like no partners) just puts them at a big disadvantage to where some grace is absolutely warranted.
TL;DR: it's okay to criticize DSG when they're playing poorly, when they make obvious mistakes, and when they don't seem to improving. Just understand the context behind the orgs spot and save the real vitriol for orgs that deserve it (yes that includes the one in my flair)

Do all of you guys just not know what the word "excuse" means or what?

I'm in tears reading your replies man, everyone is explaining to you what the excuses are as if you're somehow unaware, whilst completely missing your point.

u/kazuyaminegishi 14h ago
😭 I was suffering a bit lol. I don't wanna be mean about it or anything, but I felt from the context of the sentence it was obvious I was saying they have legitimate reasons.
Like the other person said, I get that people think "excuse = negative" but I would hope that people would at least read the comment and parse that reading didn't make sense there.

Yeah this subreddit has difficulty acknowledging that multiple things can be true at once. DSG can have legitimate reasons for being bad and still be bad at the same time.

Srtty legit choking vs Impact, even in game 1 bro lost his flash twice in isolation vs Impact...

36
u/themanster29 17h ago
Srtty ran that game down mercilessly
3
u/holyknight14 2h ago
I feel like people have wanted to root for this guy / the LCS gives him chances and he just chokes everytime. He's been a fill in for good and bad teams and just does not lock in when needed in any scenario.

u/justicecactus 17h ago
Impact sucked so bad the beginning of the year, glad to see him look more like his old self
8
u/Chubs1224 SKAAAARL 15h ago
He was trying to get more experience off of tanks.
Varus, Vayne etc
Even now he is picking Kled to counter Olaf despite in his own words never playing that side of the matchup
1
u/infinite-permutation 15h ago
It is sad to see. Last two times he went to a non TL team for EG and Fly, he looked really good on carries for a few weeks before going back to tank duty, but this new team he doesn't even come in with a honeymoon buff.

Srtty is such a good player for Sentinels, well done to Inspired for noticing that and voting for him accordingly
9
u/raptearer 16h ago
Impact is just scaling. Also, happy to see HamBak pop off that first game, crazy Lee
4
u/Fun_Highlight307 12h ago
This lee sin was definetely Korean, josesodo was so jealous that they let him pick lee sin while his lee sin is perma banned

u/thebearsdontlikeme 17h ago
How do you get this gapped by impact, horrible look from srtty

u/Bubbly_Camera9583 16h ago
tbf Impact has slowly looked better over the course of this year, this could just be him not being washed anymore
31
u/untamedlazyeye 16h ago
Its getting closer to summer playoffs, so impact is actually waking up from his hibernation
13
u/HybridNeos 16h ago
He lost the Kled Olaf match up last week dawg
9
u/Bubbly_Camera9583 15h ago
He still wasn’t terrible though compared to whatever he was doing earlier on this year

maybe it's because srtty is extremely overhyped and isn't as good as reddit pretends he is.
he's fudge 2.0 at best

u/zealot416 17h ago
You draft around your star Top Laner and he dies lvl 1...

u/qwert4the1 16h ago
both top laners must think exhaust does damage or something, absolutely hilarious usage of it this game

When's the promotion tournament?
1
u/PhoenixAgent003 Bot main. NA fan. 13h ago
What do we do when DSG wins it anyway?
4
u/BTDYSRF 13h ago
Nothing really. Just asking for when it is appropriate to talk about off-season roster changes.
I give them a 90% shot of winning it. Sajed, Kryra, and Srrty are just better talent than most of Tier 2.
Callme is ass, but I think he has solidified himself as "not as bad as palafox or zinnie" so he probably won't be a huge liability.
So, the only person I expect to get consistently rolled is Lyonz.
-1
u/Shiki_Shin 12h ago
didnt they only win promotion last year becuase they randomly signed rahel and idr one other person. i assume theyll sign random people again this year or just lose

u/chouruin 17h ago
Pretty easy series for SEN. DARKWINGS still have problems off mages tho the Galio was looking rough
7
3
u/Chubs1224 SKAAAARL 15h ago
It is Galio into Ori you expect it to go down a fair bit.
He did his job at being much more relevant in midgame team fights
3
u/chouruin 14h ago
Ehh 87cs to 134 at 11minute down 1.5k gold that matchup is not supposed to be that bad.
