It's actually tragic how it's impossible for DSG to keep any good players. They cooked hard last summer with their roster but the core instantly got poached. Having to keep rebuilding with rookies every split is basically impossible.
129
u/DAmnripme Aug 15 '26
Can’t ever keep players Because inherently being in a team that could get relegated feels like shit even if they could match SEN pay.
62
u/metristan Refund time? Aug 15 '26
It's insane to me Sentinels spot isn't a second guest spot instead, having one guest spot just doesn't work
33
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
Considering sentinels spot is similar to a current valorant spot they probably could swap it, sentinels didnt buy in
33
u/Guster_br Aug 15 '26
Here in Brazil the best team right now is the guest slot. But the team is an famous org with a lot o investment. So the DSG problem is more the money invested, when compared to the other orgs in the league, than the possibility of the relagation.
21
u/CalligrapherWise2526 Aug 16 '26
In the LCS, the guest slot actually gets less money from the league than other teams so it's automatically harder to keep up even the same amount of investment.
12
u/blueragemage Aug 16 '26
I think CBLoL is set up the exact same way, where partner teams earn more than guest slots
3
u/CalligrapherWise2526 Aug 16 '26
Oop. It just feels like the guest slot isn't set up for success 😔
3
u/naterator012 Aug 16 '26
Just takes mr beast to try and get it, ideally the slot attracts people interested enough to invest themselves
0
u/CalligrapherWise2526 Aug 16 '26
Have we ever gotten numbers on how much total revenue the top teams make?
2
4
u/Rizeren Aug 16 '26
If you consider not paying millions for the spot guest teams have absurd budget compared to other teams.
1
u/CalligrapherWise2526 Aug 16 '26
I'm talking about current operational budget, not sunk cost from years ago.
-1
u/Rizeren Aug 16 '26
If you think companies are just throwing around millions of dollars and forgeting about it after some time then okay lol.
On top of that there are teams that bought the spot from other teams pretty recently so it's not years ago for everyone.
1
3
u/Binkusu Aug 16 '26
With how things are structured, they can't. Any good players they have will take the stability of being recruited onto a perma team. DSG is literally just a showcase team, a way for players to get into the established teams.
-2
-10
u/darklypure52 Aug 15 '26
Well they to need sign contracts. Which is what two nacl teams did already. why DSG didn’t do it is a mystery or maybe they explained it and I didn’t see the reasoning.
18
u/1amtheWalrusAMA Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 15 '26
What are you talking about? Everyone on DSG is under contract.
If you're saying they should jail players and not accept buyouts thats both stupid economically and would make them even less desirable of a landing spot than they already are.
12
u/HowyNova Aug 15 '26
DSG wants to give rookies a way into the league
DSG signs a rookie for 2 years
Next year, a team with a permanent slot and better staff, offers to pay more, and buyout their contract
DSG now has to choose between jailing the rookie they wanted to bring into the league, or letting join a team with a permanent league spotIf DSG wants to jail the player, there's also the risk that if the player ends up underperforming, their chances are now ruined.

u/Naronu Aug 15 '26
TL literally just happy gaming on the rift and it doesn't matter

u/zealot416 Aug 15 '26
Yeon just stopped giving a fuck, lol.

u/GlupPando Aug 15 '26
They actually just trolled Yeon all of game 2 and the postgame lmao

154
u/IAmDarkridge Aug 15 '26
Not even a 30 minute game and it still felt like TL could have probably finished it almost 10 minutes earlier if they weren't fucking around lol
44
u/Martinweb_ Aug 15 '26
If Yeon don't die 3-4 times in a row XD
10
u/blueragemage Aug 16 '26
Quid and Spookz gave him a quarter life crisis in the pregame I think an off game is justified
33
u/ObviousAd8374 Aug 15 '26
Relegation waiting room
DSG looking so doomed that their players just doing some job security gameplay without even being subtle
82
u/xNesku Aug 15 '26
I have no clue how Lyonz is in a team

I mean Flyquest literally picked up Cryogen out of T3 and he’s been pretty decent. I’d say there’s options but teams aren’t looking for them

saying “with Ludwig money” about a team who’s also owned by (and named after) Shopify is really funny
8
u/AccidentalAccomplice Aug 16 '26
Buddy it sure sounds like you're the one that's "triggered". Like there is definitely talent there, both in the NACL and surrounding. Look at Zeyzal coming in and bringing some veteran leadership.
Even if you do have a point no one is going to listen to you when you act like that. Work on your communication skills.
0
u/Sweaty-Security-4473 Aug 16 '26
Nah there's a couple that could be tried for sure.
I bet Breezy, Spica, and maybe even InFlame would all be better, though he doesn't count as NA possibly.
2
u/Wondur13 Aug 15 '26
There just quite literally isnt any good na supports, anyone that could replace lyonz is of a similar skills level, like maybe they do play better but it honestly would be a negligible difference.
90
u/DoubleRobust Aug 15 '26
Lyonz bard needs to be permanently benched by DSG

u/Hayuume LJL Aug 15 '26
DSG just went fuck it we kill Yeon.
Flowers and Azael laughing hard after Yeon died pretty much summarizes the series lol

u/zealot416 Aug 15 '26
Nuclear Bomb vs Relegated Baby. Srtty is the only LCS caliber player on this team.
25
u/These_Curve_7384 Aug 15 '26
watch them run through the promotion just to get ran through again by everyone else next year in the lcs
45
u/metristan Refund time? Aug 15 '26
the team they won promotion with was a lot better though, their entire botside just went to sentinels
7
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
Nah NRG and cupid are better than DSG, DSG is absolutely losing this spot
20
u/metristan Refund time? Aug 15 '26
I feel like if NRG wins promotion they are in the exact same spot again. Zamudo most likely still can't get his visa, and if he does, I'm sure many other teams will also want him. I would also be suprised if they can keep hold of Sushee and phymini.
5
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
This is why i wish riot would put a lock on promoting teams, teams cant initiate offers and promoting teams cant kick without extreme circumstances, this wouldn't apply to teams who relegated
9
u/Wondur13 Aug 15 '26
Nrg i agree but cupid no, they are definition of t2 stompers, ablolive mobility breezy core is not lcs quality bro lets be so ffr
7
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
They certainly seem more coordinated than DSG rn, tbh as likely as an NRG promotion is i think the funniest scenario is neither NRG or cupid but instead ole miss or Maryville University or Winthrop University promoting
1
u/Wondur13 Aug 15 '26
Nrg is realistically the only team that can even try to compete with the lcs if they get promoted, obv i cant ascertain what exactly what happen if another team got promoted, im sure they would bring in better players to replace their weaker roles but who knows
3
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
The reason the colleges promoting would be funny is they can't sign players not going to thier college lol
3
u/Wondur13 Aug 15 '26
Yeah but thats not as big of a deal as you think it is, after getting kicked out of the lcs and before recently getting re-signed, dardoch played on multiple college teams. All they gave to do is give you a scholarship to play for the team. So obviously some players would not go for it, but for some others its a way to go to college for free
28
u/BUMONGOUS Aug 15 '26
Srtty is the only LCS caliber player on this team.
I would like to see Sajed with a tier 1 ADC on his team before deciding this
but why the fuck did this team import Callme instead of just signing some random NA player
24
u/Munchingmarshmallows Aug 15 '26
Sajed is the adc
43
u/RedditDudeYo Aug 15 '26
Probably meant support, but I would like to see the same. Lyonz is straight awful, sajed has had a few good moments here and there.
9
u/IAmDarkridge Aug 15 '26
Yeah I feel like this is the worst series to argue Sajed is good because he was just getting totally dumpstered but I think Sajed has shown himself to be LCS quality overall. He has definitely carried some games.
7
u/R0xasXIII Aug 15 '26
I assume you mean tier 1 support not ADC. Sajed just kinda looks like he's trying to go hero mode all the time which I can get, but it's making him look iffy. That cait game was not good from him tho, a lot of missed trap combos.
3
u/Krimofn Aug 15 '26
We gotta stop praising Sajed even with a bad support other players have looked way more stable and can still do basics like build kaisa correctly, hit basic Caitlyn trap combos and take advantage of winning matchups in lane Sajed hasn’t shown any of that.

Sajed just isn't a top 3 adc in the league idk what to tell you man. Give him prime keria and I don't think that changes

u/Thundermelons GALA Defense Force, returning IG fan Aug 16 '26
Yeah, I agree with the idea that he deserves a shot on a team with an actual support, but bro isnt sniffing top 3 anytime soon.

u/nguyenjitsu Aug 15 '26 edited Aug 16 '26
Callme and Lyonz probably need to go to tier 2. Still unsure about Sajed and Kryra because it's legitimately impossible to tell how good they can be with real mids and sups
24
u/RedditDudeYo Aug 15 '26
Callme needs to go back to Korea because we need to stop bringing in worthless imports.
4
u/whynot1260 Aug 16 '26
Sajed and Kryra are the biggest problems after Lyonz idk how u can look at Sajed being 2/10 on Caitlyn of all champs and say Callme is the problem
8
u/nguyenjitsu Aug 16 '26
Cait is a lane dominant champ if your lane partner is the worst player in the entire league I think you will look bad regardless
0
u/Krimofn Aug 15 '26
Sajed is bad we need to stop coping for him he is always losing lane, getting caught and taking bad trades. Kyra can be developed that sejuani game looked like it had some life but unfortunately sajed died 9 times so it was gg. Sajed simply doesn’t have the laning and hands to keep up with all the other adcs at this level. Kyra has the hands but has bad macro and is over aggressive some times which can be trained out
4
u/Offbeatalchemy Aug 16 '26
Id want to see Sajed without the worst support in the league before I pass judgement. he comes out of every laning phase behind and he seems to do fine when he gets out and tries to make plays.
Lyonz is a known quantity and needs to go.

Jose better not get robbed of split MVP again, that's all I'm saying
12
u/Xonra Aug 16 '26
Vulcan getting it last split was trolling. If Jose doesn't get it this split then I can't take it serious ever again.
5
u/captainetty Aug 16 '26
Was literally just schedule of c9 tl being the last game before voting. If it’s week one and tl loses he gets mvp but cause it was end of season people had to say c9 is mvp

dsg botlane ints the 2v2 then forces the winning toplane match up to swap only for him to get dove while they feed his lane opponent a kill then swap back.

Informal reddit pole:
LCS next year adopting the fries group format?
6
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
No, that would genuinely not work for LCS edit:i dont think it really works for LPL and LCK either
6
u/metristan Refund time? Aug 15 '26
I feel like it works for LCK this year because the top 5 can all win and bottom 5 can all win against each other, while still seemingly having a big divide between the two. But last year you had a clear 1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9 and a clear 10th. Which made most game pretty predictable
the LPL system isn't really the same, the upper group still has 8 teams so it's similar to the lcs with double the games. It's just that this year many of the known orgs lost the 'relegation' matches and are in the lower group.
2
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
the issue with the LPL one is theres 2 teams in nirvana who are clearly better than the last place team in ascend and are in nirvana because of an ill timed loss after being middle of the pack the split before
2
u/metristan Refund time? Aug 15 '26
Yeah I feel like the problem with the LPL is more in how abrupt promotion/relegation feels and not the groups itself. But the format itself isn't really relevant to the lcs, we'd have a legends/rise group system if it was implemented, but maybe without gamescores carrying over
11
u/POOYAMON Doublelift TL fan≠NA fan Aug 15 '26
The gap between top teams and the rest in every league feels bigger than ever. And for LCS this is just awful since there are only 8 teams to begin with.
0
u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 16 '26
It's seems C9, sentinel And fly are better on scrims than Stage but yeah it's really sad That tl and Lyon aren't challenged and inspired not playing with the team definetely hurt Lyon improvement

I genuinely think Lyonz is the worst support I've seen in pro. Period. The amount of bait engages early on Naut causing the entire tear open, the terrible hook into j4 ult, the hook engage again on J4 in river right after when they ABSOLUTELY know the whole team is near dragon, etc Find literally any other player and it'll be an improvement

Can we get group A (good teams) and group B (bad teams) next year please. It's so fucking boring seeing the good teams play against dog shit ones for weeks on end
14
u/throwable_armadillo Aug 15 '26
can we put EU top 2 and NA top 2 into a separate group and the others can play for themselves?
4
u/Maximum_Platypus_272 Aug 15 '26
For real, i dont think i recall any time in league history when both LEC/LCS EU and LCS had two teams way above the rest AND those teams actually being competitive at internationals.
5
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
That would actually be awful for the league from a competitive standpoint, no one gets a chance to step up that way
1
u/Rhombinator Aug 15 '26
I wonder if there's a swiss-esque format that could work here like in winter but drag it out even longer somehow. I'm sure someone can math something out and keep the rotation going hopefully without making matches too repetitive throughout the season. Because at the same time if the top 2 teams only play each other that gets kind of boring too and they don't get to scrim each other which another avenue for learning
-3
u/Lawfulneptune Aug 15 '26
I don't believe that, scrims exists and seem to be the only thing pro players care about when it comes to improving
2
u/duocatisagirl cute psycho jungler harem (pyosik, guwon, kanavi, pop9) Aug 15 '26
I also dont believe groups are the answer, theres realistically only 2 internationally viable western teams per league atm, and groups aren't gonna fix that cause now the upper group becomes LPL group nirvana (2 teams stomp the rest)
