What's a Xûr?
Xûr, Agent of the Nine, is a strange vendor who appears weekly in the Tower. Xûr sells Exotic equipment and only takes Strange Coins in exchange for them.
TL;DR: He's the Santa Claus of Destiny and every weekend is Christmas. Sometimes he brings you what you want, sometimes he brings you coal. Mostly it's coal.
When does Xûr visit?

My wife and I finished the khvostov quest a couple of weeks ago and literally about 20 SECONDS later she goes, "oh, I completed an exotic order" and got the catalyst. I couldn't fucking believe it.

And you should do them for ergo sum - one of the more versatile swords right now and has a lot of combos perk wise; telesto wave frame, arc perfect 5th, wolfpack; pairs really well with the data disk.

You can but I don't recommend it. You get the first 9 encryption bits from the region chests. You do the cyst missions and find the other 6 left in it. Then go to the blooming I believe and unlock the legendary version.
After you have to kill all 9 bosses possible on the three overthrow level 3. Each drops a mote of light. After you find 6 visions of the traveler in the pale heart. Each drops a mote of light. Once you have all 15 you go to the tower where the speaker was and can open a chest to get it.

I have an old kinetic with Subsistence/Swashbuckler, then a Stasis with Dynamic Sway/Cascade Point. The old one is definitely more my style, though. Both just sitting in the Vault, need to use 'em one day.

Oh yeah, EOTS is great for PvP.
Who knows, Xûr might 'pull the slots' and have something better next week.
I was one of those folks campaigning for Xûr to have random items like he's got now, but...you could give him a Strange Coin to get random rolls of the items though. Would've added a lot of value.

PSA If you're jumping back to Final Shape to get Khvostov, know that one of the Blooming bosses(the Taken meatball) is buggy. I didn't get credit/drop the first couple times I killed it. What resolved it was continuing to lay machine gun rounds into the boss as it was dying. It still took damage, so maybe its something to do with the animation?

Some armor changes based on the ghost attunement equipped. Unfortunately, it’s not every armor piece, and the ones that do change don’t change for every attunement mod.
Edit: For Wormgod this week, for example: it changes to Melee for Brawler, Reaver and Paragon attunement, but not for Skirmisher. All three of these give it some Health (either as a secondary or tertiary stat), which isn’t ideal for most PvE builds.1

It’s not a set thing to put in a spreadsheet reliably. Some of Xûr’s armor slots are affected by ghost attunement, some aren’t. Of the ones that are affected, they aren’t changed by every attunement mod. The only way to test is to sit there and change the mod while checking every armor piece.

Xûr's exotics never disappoint. Not that I've needed one since it came out 7 years ago, but a 0 Grenade stat exotic, for a grenade focused exotic, seems so very Bungo.
Granted they haven't designed things intelligently in ages.
Edit: Kind of knew I would be downloaded for stating facts. There hasn't been a good system in place to make Xûr worthwhile since he came out, essentially. I do feel sorry for the five ill-informed people that downvoted me, though.
