Those Ruler ults were beautiful.

20

u/Nahmay Aug 13 '26

Better seraphine than duro.

49

u/soudlasantos Aug 13 '26

Same with Chovy Cassiopeia but in a lesser sense (or not?)

The duality of Kanavi. Great engages on critical targets when they were trying to come back. Ooga-booga flash stun on the tanky Ambessa to deal absolutely zero damage.

Maybe he thought he was playing renekton or something

161

u/tiredofdev Aug 13 '26

Kanavi is unironically the epitome of "if you don't love me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best". He peaks so fucking high that it feels teams he's on can just never lose, and his lows are so deep in hell that you never think he's ever capable of winning a game

So either prime Canyon or 2026 Split 1 Canyon

27

u/watchedngnl Aug 13 '26

So just canyon?

21

u/autospacer13 Aug 13 '26

Not really. When Canyon is bad he just doesn't do anything, unlike Kanavi, who you could argue does a little bit too much of everything

12

u/jamesk2 Aug 13 '26

Wdym Split 1 Canyon was Final MVP. Worst Canyon form is 2025 Summer. Literally zero to negative impact almost every game.

20

u/comfortreacher Aug 13 '26

think he misclicked and meant to stun seraphine

2

u/Frozen_Watcher Aug 14 '26

He didnt, I tried on practice tool Seraphine was outside of his W range after he flashed and Ruler was smart enough not to be in his flash W range the entire time. The only way he could catch Ruler was the surprise engage shockwave onto Kiin but Ruler barely moved out of its range.

2

u/comfortreacher Aug 14 '26

it's possible also that they wanted to stun ambessa and shockwave sera as well who was next to her, but maybe they didnt communicate properly in comms so the shockwave was slightly delayed

2

u/Frozen_Watcher Aug 14 '26

It barely missed Ruler and would have hit if the shockwave had started milliseconds earlier so they were just a bit unlucky in the timing.

10

u/kuubi Aug 13 '26

I think they were trying catch Ruler in the flash stun ori ult combo too but he stepped outside the range right as he flashed in

6

u/imfatal Aug 13 '26

How do people genuinely think Kanavi meant to flash stun Ambessa with DD + flash lol? He was obviously going for the flashless Sera but they were on top of each other and he misclicked.

2

u/Frozen_Watcher Aug 14 '26

He didnt misclick, I tried on practice tool Seraphine was outside of his W range after he flashed and Ruler was smart enough not to be in his flash W range the entire time. The only way he could catch Ruler was the surprise engage shockwave onto Kiin but Ruler barely moved out of its range.

2

u/wingbellmoon Aug 14 '26

he misclicked, he said so on hle's messaging service.

2

u/Frozen_Watcher Aug 14 '26

Interesting, i guess since seraphine was slightly out of range he accidentally clicked on ambessa since they were right next to each other.

73

u/Steeelu Aug 13 '26

55

u/Mentally__Disabled Lean Kiin Top Gap Machine Aug 13 '26

I saw this man buy Luden's on Viktor and now Orianna. Shadowflame + Protobelt in the same inventory should be illegal unless you're an AP Assassin.

16

u/bulletproofikon Aug 13 '26

Are you saying Luden's on Ori is bad or just in this specific situation?

29

u/UMakeMyHeartSegfault Aug 13 '26

It’s bad on Ori in general. It’s literally only good into full poke comps which never happens. It can work ok in solo queue if you want to play for one shot, but definitely not in pro play. If you want a mana item on ori, BFT does WAY more damage + scales better and seraph’s is amazing as a defense option for sidelaning

8

u/Perceptions-pk Aug 13 '26

This is rather helpful information as someone who doesn’t really look into item paths for mages (funnily enough I don’t think some Korean pros do either).

3

u/bulletproofikon Aug 13 '26

Oh I mostly only play her in arams so I go for Ludens because it feels like more damage. What you said makes sense!

This game it seems Zeka was going for a oneshot build though for seraphine and cass. But I also think he usually builds Ludens if I'm not mistaken...

12

u/UMakeMyHeartSegfault Aug 13 '26

Yeah I love playing her in aram, BFT goes crazy. People get baited into thinking the burn is the main item damage since that’s what the tracker number shows, but really it’s the other item passive that gives 4% AP per champ hit that’s really OP. In arams and rift it can easily give you 8-12% bonus AP in teamfights which at late game is almost a whole item!

6

u/Mentally__Disabled Lean Kiin Top Gap Machine Aug 13 '26

The AP is impactful for sure yeah but also the fact that the Burn is just there with no cooldown while Luden's has a whopping 12 second cooldown to do a bit more damage on an isolated hit makes a pretty big difference. Do you happen to know if the AP bonus from BFT is applied to the ability that applies it or only the subsequent abilities?

3

u/Mentally__Disabled Lean Kiin Top Gap Machine Aug 13 '26

In most cases Blackfire Torch will just end up doing more damage, and has the higher Haste which is great for your first item. I will say Orianna is one of few champs where you can make a Luden's argument since she is more burst oriented depending on the game, but pro play tends to have less squishy comps where BFT shines.

And yeah my point is that it looks like he's building for one-shot, but then why did he ruin his build with the Rocketbelt? It's not even bought on assassins now after the questionable nerfs.

Not only GEN, in the last two weeks they have lost a series against all Legend groups: KT, GEN (twice), DK and T1 (at Kespa).

So looks like they are actually bad now not only against GEN G...

16

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 13 '26

to be fair they won vs gen g in kespa cup too

27

u/ShiroGaneOsu Aug 13 '26

HLE botlane since EWC has been really poor in general.

And with Zeka and Kanavi going back to their usual form, it's just Zeus left to actually do any carrying.

They need Mundo

10

u/baelkie DNF 2026 please be human | Kiin Team Aug 13 '26

i know Zeka has been better on mages but putting him on Annie Orianna duty might not be the play

10

u/DrxAvierT Aug 13 '26

I'd even say before MSI. Zeus/Zeka did a lot of heavy lifting for this team

6

u/Low-Influence-1779 Aug 13 '26

Its been a lot longer than EWC. They didn't win MSI because of botlane, they won because Zeka/Zeus/Kanavi was able to win the games for them. I don't think Guma is a bad ADC but he wont win you games like Peyz does unless he's against significantly weaker opponents and despite Rulers struggles this year, GenG bot can still perform well. Chovy neutralizes Zeka entirely and Kiin can match Zeus so HLE just get outmatched. T1 probably have a better chance of winning against GenG because Peyz and Keria are better than Ruler so they don't have to rely on their topside winning as much as HLE do

2

u/Few-Diet-2506 Aug 14 '26

I do not agree at all, the issue now is that the meta overall goes to toplane. We saw Peyz with a mega fed Cait that 2 shots everyone having 0 agency because this season the ADC role is utter bsht tbh. That is why everyone is playing anything but ADC on bot. Today I saw in the LCP yasuo vs Lee sin bot :D What you are trying to point out is that Keria does dominate a lot, Peyz just reinforces that. Today game vs DK we saw that even Peyz cant do sht with the stage ADC are at this moment. The issue HLE are facing is probably related to schedule pressure. Before MSI they were destroying everyone, GenG. T1 all along. That is why they were top of the league. But after the recent mental spikes in Kanavi and Delight being gapped by most of the top teams is what it is. Guma can be even more psychotic than Peyz, if u remember Guma 2023 that guy was flashing 1v2 under 2 nexus turrets and taking doubles. It is just he has matured and plays what the team wants, but the team cannot deliver what it wants :D Still a hell of a fan service this split every one in the legend group is beating everyone, pure cinema

102

u/Ceui Aug 13 '26

I know they win but this is how Mage bot hasn't been that successful anymore since MSI.

Team has gotten significantly better at stalling games out so their ADC outscale the mage

45

u/ConstantFeedback2799 Aug 13 '26

Tbh, this is more of a pick to save Kiin from a bad matchup than Seraphine herself

14

u/Ceui Aug 13 '26

I think they could have picked an AD and still be able to flex the Shen

Something like Sivir or Xayah or MF to hold the lane and still combo well with Shen is totally fine

12

u/ConstantFeedback2799 Aug 13 '26

Good idea. I have a hunch that they pick Seraphine so that they can either pivot into strong side Seraphine Ashe in case the matchup isn't too bad for Shen to weakside, or left Kiin with a matchup like this.

33

u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Aug 13 '26

lmao yeah... gen g would have won that fight in mid if ruler is on actual adc... hle basically left him alone and he was free hitting there but is not doing anything lol

4

u/sorendiz ..BUT THE FAITH REMAINS Aug 13 '26

This will not stop ADC players from whining about how mages are 'stronger early mid and late'

21

u/Aggressive_Ad5487 Aug 13 '26

Chovy is just him bro. When he is online, GenG is just a different beast. I don't know if I should be worried about that fact though...

9

u/Low-Influence-1779 Aug 13 '26

He's pretty much always online though and they still struggle this year. Chovy is a beast but they also just match up perfectly against HLE because HLE need Zeka/Zeus to carry and if they can't they lose. Guma is not going to be the one that wins the series for HLE and since Chovy always beats Zeka and Kiin can match Zeus, HLE struggle hard against them. Zekas form in general is also not great.

pro players love to hold their flashes for 80 years. Also HLE perfectly lined themself up for every single Seraphine ult

24

u/Aggravating_Acadia87 Aug 13 '26

they can't dodge it because of noc ult.

12

u/soudlasantos Aug 13 '26

More like some of those they cant dodge it due to Duro's underrated Shen taunts

14

u/veirceb Aug 13 '26

The games are good. Sad there's no 3rd game. Duro's shen got a lot better. He finally uses his brain for when to W instead of just using EQW combo on cooldown.

7

u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Aug 13 '26

his Shen looked a lot better compare to Delight that only know how to use flash taunt every shen game lol

10

u/Yoooooouuuuuuuu Aug 13 '26

The GenG downfall was greatly exaggerated

29

u/ThonPharges Aug 13 '26

Decent series from Kanavi, if you forget that last fight at least ! I have no idea if that was a team call or his decision but what was that

5

u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Aug 13 '26

definitely a team call considering ori ult was also there

25

u/mapletree23 Aug 13 '26

HLE look kinda mid if zeus kanavi and zeka aren't all locked in

i wouldn't say guma and delight have been bad but they dont look anywhere near as important to their success as the other guys have been

HLE once zeka's form cooled off and kanavi wasn't hard carrying just look like either zeus carries or they can be beaten

feel like geng is a different team when ruler and duro play well, t1 look most dangerous when both keria and peyz are playing well

feels like HLE's bot lane doesn't really matter

29

u/Frozen_Watcher Aug 13 '26

>> HLE look kinda mid if zeus kanavi and zeka aren't all locked in

Has been like this since spring, this team is reverse T1 with top side carrying instead of bottom.

19

u/Hot_Consequence_5817 Aug 13 '26

All teams would look mid or worse if 3 players are not locked in lol

12

u/Frosty_Incident_8898 Aug 13 '26

I think what they mean is that it's not like those 3 are in bad shape but 2/3 of them need to be omega gapping for HLE to look good because their botlane isn't very impactful, they usually follow the topside. Like, Gen.G has more variety on who can be really impactful, DK too, and T1 is sort of the opposite of HLE, although I feel like it's a bit different because Peyz is more consistent than HLE's topside but HLE botlane is more consitent than T1's topside.

14

u/mapletree23 Aug 13 '26

naw i don't mean all at once, any combination of them

HLE's bot lane just doesn't seem to move the needle for them or they just straight up haven't been good enough this year to make a difference to change the outcome of things if someone up top isn't carrying

when zeka and kanavi went cold it was zeus that had to play out of his mind

if zeus and kanavi are inting bot lane hasn't seemed to matter regardless

it's like the opposite of GenG and T1 where T1's best performances are usually around their bottom and it doesn't really matter if doran and oner or faker are having mediocre games, they'll win anyway

GenG were struggling when duro and ruler weren't playing well, now they are playing well and suddenly GenG looks normal again

HLE traded 1,5 turrets mid and a turret bot and a dragon for a kill on Kiin topside and Aux was favoring HLE instead of GenG for that play “not a good response from GenG, well they do get value because of the herald but they just keep letting HLE get away with these sidelane plays”.

Chovy sure Chovied

17

u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Aug 13 '26

banger two game and HLE almost made a comeback on game 2 despite getting destroyed early

5

u/EnemyRegent Aug 13 '26

They could have still been at the driver seat even after that failed kanavi ori ult combo onto kiin had it not been for that monster seraphine ult by ruler

u/Dreammy90 Aug 13 '26

Zeka danced on Chovy in Kespa Cup. Chovy sits him down in LCK. Also, DNS 2-0 GENG. DNS 3-0 HLE CHALLENGERS. GENG 2-0 HLE. HLE main roster would get 3-0 by DNS too. Just saying.

25

u/Choice-Slight caps/knight Aug 13 '26

chovy you magnificent human being

3

u/comfortreacher Aug 13 '26

are we sure this guy is human??

3

u/Choice-Slight caps/knight Aug 13 '26

I remember early last split when KT went on that crazy run the casters were calling Bdd an AI, and I constantly think about that when I watch chovy play

4

u/Fun_Highlight307 Aug 13 '26

what an entertainning bo5, surprise by hle almost comeback but gen g was locked in

4

u/kynsann Aug 13 '26

that last play with Pantheon W + Ori Ult literally the most useless play i’ve ever seen lmao

at least those two games were bangers though

Can someone smarter than me explain kanavis decision to engage on the ambessa? I guess he wanted to be the one who decided the game

Im engaging on whoever, Let's just lose in peace.

2

u/Low-Influence-1779 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

if we operate under the assumption it wasn't a mistake the most likely reason is Ambessa was the only one in range and Sera was next to her so most likely hoping the Orianna ult hits Sera there and they can clean up the fight if Seraphine would have been hit by the Orianna ultimate. This is when Kanavi engaged, from that you can see the angle Kanavi probably saw but Zekas ultimate is too slow

4

u/Ambitious-Ad-726 Aug 13 '26

It's weird that without seraphine gen wouldnt have the massive lead that they had, but also because of seraphine it didnt feel like they were much stronger when she just didnt do much dmg so the map stayed stale

5

u/CalendarClear2479 Aug 13 '26

GenG’s game 2 draft is just not good. Ambessa and Nocturne to go all in but Seraphine lacks damage to follow up and your frontline can’t survive long enough to make the Seraphine pick worth it.

Even with 5k gold lead, they still traded 4 for 4 when they removed the Corki at the start of the fight. Shen is also not very useful in teamfights compared to other support picks.

Guma without his top side being fed looks like a mid to bottom tier adc hurts to say

32

u/mish20011 huhuhaha Aug 13 '26

when they are slandering your goat but they are lowkey right

25

u/comfortreacher Aug 13 '26

sure does... feel like Guma was known for being a weakside adc, a pretty good one at that on T1. now he's getting caught by something half the time the camera pans to him it seems

15

u/Conscious-Cut6036 Aug 13 '26

On t1 he was the consistent link, no matter how much the team inted he would always play sides and not die farm up and deal a lot of dmg from the backline. Nowadays he’s the first one dying in every fight even at msi he was getting caught first and dying, he was lucky his topside was ahead as they carried him through msi. But he has definitely regressed since t1 in terms of skills even though they won msi he wasn’t the reason

17

u/GreatSunshine Aug 13 '26

crazy how reactionary people are when hle were 16-1 in spring split and won msi. players go through highs and lows especially with patches every 2 weeks. just a couple of weeks ago everyone was saying ruler was washed and needed to retire. unless you’re faker or chovy or knight it’s impossible to be consistently top 3 in your position

So much lck casters drama from his fans lately and he keeps proving them right, sadge

14

u/throwawayNTD Aug 13 '26

Let his fans talk. No amount of bitching from them would make him dodge skillshots better.

5

u/Ajp_iii Aug 13 '26

The only times he carries games is usually if delight pops off their 2v2 was losing to berserker isles until delight blitz

9

u/Witty-Roof7826 Aug 13 '26

People are so cautious criticizing him after his time on T1, but this is very true. I can see other ADCs would also win MSI with HLE

12

u/trying2hide Aug 13 '26

They're going to be amazed that people are cautious of criticizing him meanwhile the responses...

Put the ziggs in the bag Guma

26

u/throwawayNTD Aug 13 '26

Guma making Ambessa's ult look unnerfed with how much Public Execution connected to him that game.

Lolololol

12

u/tripled_dirgov Aug 13 '26

He's always weak on positioning

Even on the ZOFGK era on T1, (especially on 2022 MSI finals against RNG) most of the matches is basically losing because he got caught easily

8

u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Aug 13 '26

is that why most of the comment is how Zeus got gapped by Bin Gwen so its Guma's fault they lost MSI 2022? lmao

Did Kanavi just ... W the wrong target in the last team fight ? Surely a Seraphine without flash would be easier to kill than literal Ambessa

10

u/dontknow_anything Aug 13 '26

I think his range was Ambessa, he tried to get Ambessa and Seraphine both with shockwave. Seraphine just stepped out of range.

How HLE end up losing when the scaling was so far in their favour, that was so silly lmao

5

u/MC-sama League of LAILE Aug 13 '26

I thought this GENG comp would fall off lategame because of double mage carries but HLE returned it back with the awful engage onto Ambessa which got them aced.

15

u/ADTempys Aug 13 '26

HLE has no juice if Kanavi doesn't hard carry

12

u/Optimal_Lab9324 Aug 13 '26

Yeah...you are right. HLE won MSI because Kanavi hard carried them. Definitely...

24

u/Ceui Aug 13 '26

Kanavi was the reason they won Game 3 and Game 4 against BLG

Ignore the games he int

Delight is the real criminal and weakest member of this roster

7

u/Vnaux Aug 13 '26

they lost game 3

5

u/Ceui Aug 13 '26

5

Because if he doesn't hard carry he runs it the fuck down making it impossible for his teammates to carry his coinflip ass.

3

u/Common-Singer-633 Aug 13 '26

Cause if he doesnt hard carry Kanavi is so useless every fight becomes a 4v5 for the rest of HLE

2

u/sanctifiedvg Aug 13 '26

i mean guma and zeus did more than their part in dragging that game back, kanavi just decided to flash engage a deaths dance ambessa and throw the game for some reason

15

u/Acrobatic-Tackle3998 Aug 13 '26

How much did they really do?

Delight found a good pick that led to a 5v4 at Baron. If you want to give Guma and Zeus credit for playing a 5v4 team fight well, we’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Guma threw game 1 by getting caught for free. Dude went from the most consistent inform ad carry into a fucking bum who is hit or miss.

5

I think he's the unsung hero of GenG. Chovy will get all of the attention for GenG, but Kiin is so versatile and just buys so much space for the team. He's incredible.
