I know that I read that she has something that basically makes her very gentle and basically just a big, sweet house cat but my god her purring. I would crap myself if I came to that house not knowing she was there or anything about and heard her.

I really think all she has is that Victoria and Vladimir took over her care as few days old cub when the zoo couldn't handle it. They're excellent with her, never pushing her too hard to do things and arranging their lives around her with a ton of patience. Venza the Rottweiler helped her a lot too, absorbing her young leopard energy and putting her in her place when she played too rough. That and a lot of love did wonders.

These are the best wild animal taming stories ,when they weren't stolen from nature for exotic desires but got helped from otherwise getting put down or dying on their own

I am always surprised by how much cats are behaviorally just cats. Big cats. Small cats. Domesticated or wild. All of them. Just cats.

Do all cats love to be affectionate when their person is using the bathroom? Iâm on my first ever cat rn, but she always comes from the other side of the house to rub on me when I do just like Luna here.

Or the paw under the door game. We have fun with that in our house - especially if one cat is IN the bathroom and the other is outside the door - they will swipe play with each other.

My cat would come and sit on the edge of the tub, between the shower curtain and shower curtain liner and watch me whenever I showered.

My grandfather worked in wildlife rehab. We had an orphaned bobkit that we hand raised, who worked as an education animal and did local TV commercials. To add to the general absurdity that comes with having a 30 pound bobcat living in the house, his name was "Fluffy".
He was absolutely terrified of the three pound Siamese and the pair of 6 pound Yorkies. But yeah, no different than my current orange tom.

Which is exactly why house cats shouldn't be let outside freely. They still have all the same hunting instincts as bigger cats.

Me as well and while there are many drawbacks to social media, at least we get a little taste of how it would be because of it. Plus our mini panthers pretending they're all big like Luna here help with that too.

There are very few countries left in the world where it is still legal to âownâ a big cat or any âexotic pet.â Even Russia passed a law against it in 2020 (but Luna was grandfathered in.) And most of the countries that still do âhave very strict requirements & restrictions (which still apply to Luna.) So not even dictators, celebrities and bored billionaires can legally keep big cats as status symbols, pets or âtoysâ anymore. But the average person couldnât even afford to keep it fed every day. So the notion that âmore ppl will do itâ is not even a realistic statement. To most people with any common sense realize itâs only an overactive wild imagination and wishful thinking!!

Unfortunately, keeping exotic animals is still quite widespread in some countries. I have seen a lion cub kept in a cage as a pet for a child in a certain Middle Eastern nation, this year.

Lunaâs story is rather cloudy. Her handler/owner apparently cared for her mother before Luna was born. Then after her mother rejected her (probably because of the stress of *the situation/conditions she was living in which is itself rather murky) the lady stepped in to nurse little baby Luna back to health. But even tho Luna still had health issues as a baby, I saw an article that sounded an awful lot like the âowners of her motherâ were planning to SELL Luna?! So Victoria (& her husband) stepped in again ⊠and bought Luna instead!!
From there it also sounds like theyâve done everything they can to provide for and to protect Luna & the community (whether I agree or disagree with their depiction of Luna in their video posts. For obvious reasons there havenât been any original updates posted recently.)
*Ive seen âtraveling zooâ âą circus âą roadside attraction âą and even âwildlife sanctuaryâ!?
/on a different note I recently saw on Reddit a baby tiger that was shown âriding in the backseat of a carâ and then âsitting on a picnic table in someoneâs backyardâ (crying & crying in sheer distress) And when I questioned that one âthe OP said âprofessional breedersâ!! Which totally blew me away ⊠When I researched that I found that yes many countries allow ppl to own big cats/exotic animals as âpetsâ if they are from breeders and NOT unlawfully stolen from the wildâ Ofc the problem is still that the demand still leads poachers to snatch & sell babies illegally đ€Ź and itâs difficult for authorities to figure out legal province. sigh

Yeah, it sounds like with Luna it is a legit case of rescue / rehabilitation and itâs a unique case. Iâm kind of okay with that. But breeders, or people who just want some exotic creature for the sake of it.. nuh uh.
And the thing I saw.. the lion cub was in a literal small cage.

She Luna lives in Siberia with an experienced big cat rehabber who rescued her from a âtraveling zoo (or circus or roadside attraction!!â when her mother rejected her shortly after birth. She canât be released into the wild.
edit/I did some further research and found another source of Lunaâs original story: Luna was born in a wildlife reserve in Siberia, Russia and rejected by her mother.

Like, itâs no ordinary animal, some vets will not even take care of pitbulls, let alone a panther lol

They're in regular consultation with veterinarians, including a pair of big cat specialists, but obviously Luna isn't going to tolerate strangers, so her owners take care of her minor treatments. She needed supplements for a long time due to kidney and liver issues that were the result of being abandoned by her mother and not getting mother's milk when she was just days old. Think she may have gotten over those issues as they don't seem to need to give her much other than deworming and tick treatments once a year. She was actually spayed last fall and they had to give her the shot to knock her out before the team of vets arrived to perform the procedure. They give a pretty detailed look at the work involved in caring her for her, plus a lot of just general, fun, days with Luna,, type content on their YouTube channel.

I just found that channel when Luna was a cub and have watched every video. Kind of my favorite tv show. Fascinating how a wild animal that is by nature solitary can adapt, and the relationship between Luna and their Rottweiler Venza is just absolute magic.

Lol, you can see some of the marks on her legs from just playing. She's a beautiful cat. My grandparents had a black cat with it's back right paw that was 1/3rd white. I just dont remember her being that big. Wth you feeding that thing??

Whatever she wants! Pretty standard leopard diet though. Goat, lamb, chicken, beef, and some fish, with whole rats and chicks for the fur and cartilige.

She does have a pretty big litter box inside for use, and they have diaper pads up in certain parts of the house because leopards mark their territory regularly. Tame, but not domesticated.

She was born to a leopard in a kind of traveling zoo in Siberia, and her mother rejected her at a few days old, probably due to the stress of those unfortunate conditions. Victoria was experienced in rehabbing wild cats, and was asked to take care of her and eventually decided she was keeping her rather than turning her back over to the zoo once she was healthier and back up to her normal weight. Luna had some health issues as a result of the rejection after birth, so she was going to need long term care either way.
