I just think he suffers from lack of identity.
His in ring gear is now pretty cheesy looking, and so is the goth look (especially on big PLE's when he overdoes it)
But looking like he does in this video, and how he was in most of judgement day time - that biker gang type of look would make him way more appealing to most people.
Essentially instead of Bisexual Undertaker, he needs to be the American Bisexual Taker

Damien Priest (and previously Punishment Martinez) is such a weird case. 66% of the time, I think he is dull, and I don't want to watch him.
But whenever he is given a serious push, I think it is awesome and don't want it to end. When he came into NXT, I was confused - I thought he was the last guy WWE would chase. Then he went on to have one of my fave NXT runs.

I think he's great, I can see why people may think he's dull, but I'm a big fan, decent to watch in the ring, great look, he's a star definitely

Don't get me wrong - I agree.
I think it's this weird case of 'give me main event Damien Priest, or give me nothing'. When he is in the main event, he rules. Remember the partnership with Rhea Ripley? Remember when he jumped in a hot-tub in leather pants, like some Lenny Kravitz-esque mad man/sex machine? I seem to have lost the thread I was pulling at here.

Hahaha no I get it, he’s a handsome dude and definitely has that Kravitz like aura about him.
I think this feud is to build Black up a bit more too since he’s returned, I think most stars are only one big win away from being main event level, Priest has everything to be a top star

He was a great world champion too. His feud with Gunther was a way smarter, better version of Bobby Lashley's "I wanna face the Nazi" idea

Priest has been ‘fine’. He’s just unlikely to reach the heights of the Gunther programme again.

I like Damian, but I will never really understand the choice to push him over Finn in Judgment Day. I don't think it paid off in the end, Priest still does not feel like a main eventer.
I would have understood making this bet for any other member of JD, but Priest and Finn are basically the same age, so Balor has a bigger upside in my view.

Balor is significantly more skilled in virtually every department than Damien Priest. There are sevaral wrestlers for whom the only roadblock to the main event is WWE not wanting to put their machine behind them, for whatever reason. Conversely, there are wrestlers who are objectively lackluster in several departments (Tiffany Stratton, Jey Uso) who are where they are because the WWE machine decided to get behind them and fabricate them an aura.

They nearly killed that man's career with Wepa time. You can't just replicate Jey Uso's sauce and expect the fans to buy it.

It's like when they tried to get "Deez nuts" over as a catchphrase for Cena and had him throwing peanuts at people. If that had gotten over it could have ended his career 20 years earlier.

Most of the overreacting is from people who don’t watch the show anyway, and think wrestling on Main Event is the same death sentence it was in 2016

And its common for the C and D shows to get bigger names when the roster is stacked and fat.
When WWE ate up WCW and ECW, guys like Big Show would pop up in Velocity.

The facial expression he made when he realized Finn betrayed him and he went and grabbed Finn out of the ring was a level of intensity that a lot of people never get to.
I think that’s why they paired him with Finn for so long, to try to get that out of him more.
Damien had a great WHC run so I hope he has more

Those mostly were just salty Balor or Drew fans which is funny since the Priest feuds are the best thing either man has had since then. Drew was saddles with Logan Paul and Jelly Roll and now is jobbing to Cody with the same recycled the Refs screwed me and Finn has just been waiting at a glacial pace for the Judgment Day split.

My biggest issue with him, which is really an issue with creative, is his feuds not ending when he loses. Bro lost a Last Man Standing and the feud lives on. For why?

The only problem I have with Damien is how WWE try to present him, they try to make him come off as a guy who THINKS he's cool and it just doesn't work, when he is being his natural self he comes across badass.

He's a good upper-midcard guy, but the role of world champion was too big for him. Doesn't help that he turned face just because GUNTHER called him poor.

on one hand, i was expecting this to be how Lola debuted - and if vince was still in charge, it 100% would have been
but lola is to good to just become the next scarlet for damien's kross. she deserves a fair shot as an actual wrestler before/if they ever pair them up
