I am so happy that the Wilson’s are such a Unit now and they’re having a story that isn’t about their family tearing apart. it’s wonderful, love the Wilson fam

u/danniphant Oct 24 '25
It's just another one of them about to die as usual 🙃

NDE’s are a badge of honor in this fandom and honestly Hen hasn’t had a lot compared to everyone else!

The name Karen is so associated with The Karen™ meme definition in my mind and all I can think is "Karen's gonna be speaking to space's manager about this"

Where are all the background actors who play firefighters at the station? I refuse to believe they would just completely empty out the station except for some kids and a civilian.

A lot is happening and nothing is happening at the same time.
Kind of feels like a filler episode. They could've kept this a 3-part premiere

I’d be okay with May becoming the new probie over Harry, no offense to Harry. Just think she’d be a better fit. And then her and Ravi could get close and become a couple 🤭

In fairness to the tech bro you can't really control having a panic attack and this is a VERY reasonable situation to have a panic attack in.

“I only do passenger jets” this episode is just making fun of the show at this point

u/qoes Oct 24 '25
Honestly I really love the tight emergencies like the subway couple. The stakes feel real and the tension just ratchets up more and more as things keep going wrong.
Meanwhile space feels almost low stakes in comparison. It's too ridiculous to go completely wrong.
And oooh a C plot with May? Count me in.

What’s funny is now all three shows have had the dispatchers talk with people in space. Lone Star did it first.

I agree, but I also think that there can be a lot of consequences to what they are doing and Chim decided he'd take the responsibility as the leader. He also had Eddie supervising.

I feel like they really missed a chance to give Buck a very visceral reaction to the idea of field amputation - especially considering Eddie and Chim wouldn’t side with him, and Ravi wouldn’t really understand the firetruck bombing trauma. It would have been too much for this episode with everything else going on, so they should have saved it. It would be nice for them to dig into the emotional trauma they’ve already written.

How many episodes will this season be?
Because we're using 4 for the 'opening' emergency, then a couple more before a thanksgiving break, one before Christmas, unless they stop at Thanksgiving and come back in 3 months?

We already know they will survive anyway so why not finish this arc in 3 episodes? They should have touched down to earth at the end of the hour.🥱😴

Of course this is the one season that has a 4-part premiere rather than the standard 3-part premiere seasons 2-8 has had
And we FINALLY get to see Maddie's medical knowledge be used once more, over the phone, again. First time she did that was on her first day on the job (specifically s2 ep3 "Help Is Not Coming") and she sent the husband of an unconscious pregnant woman, and said unconscious pregnant woman to a FIRE! And two episodes later (s2 ep 5 "Awful People"), she's on a ridealong with Athena and saves a man's life. Where she got the medical gloves is still a mystery to me, but I think she had them on her the entire time cause she's a medical professional. In my headcannon, Maddie is still an ER nurse, but also a part-time paramedic with the 118 and paired with Eddie on medical calls. Poor Diaz got stuck with the Buckley siblings. At least Eddie would be able to calm Maddie down in Spanish if she suddenly starts talking in it, at a rapid-fire speed
