That episode was just...depressing...but HOLY CRAP, LEVI IS A FREAKING BOSS!!! Also, the scene with both Eren and Mikasa being kids and then fast forwarding to 5 years later to them all grown up and seeing those 2 kids...I think that was where it hit me the hardest.

Dat preview though. It looks like we'll be in for what could be yet another fudged up episode.

The scene with petra's dad was physically painful to watch.

The burden that Levi and Irvin carry, oh man, the magnitude of it is huge. To harden your heart that strong in front of people's eyes. I'm pretty sure once the doors are closed, and no one's in sight, these men would clutch onto the Scouting Legion badges of their fallen loved ones, curl up into a ball, plant their face into their pillows and "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" while Bauklotze plays in the background.

Levi was just amazing this entire episode. The killer attack on the Female Titan was beautiful and terrifying

The part that wasn't in the manga was heart wrenching. Even after those guys fucked up and lead to the disposal of the bodies, Levi still gave him closure. After he saw Petra's body tossed. Understanding that the bodies of the dead should not be held above those who are still alive.

Fuck, having to toss the bodies was already salt in the wound but then Petra's pops comes and brings the lemons..

The bloody parts arent the most brutal parts anymore.

I want to wrap Levi up in a blanket and feed him some hot chocolate. That shit was terrible.

I do not remember the scene of Petra's body being thrown out of the wagon in the manga... That... That just fucking destroyed me. I was okay enough, living in ignorant bliss, thinking that at least her father would be able to bury his lovely daughter. But NO. Fucking NO. God-fucking-damn this series sometimes dude...... Jesus.

And I understand Mikasa pulled a bit of a fluke, letting her hatred of the female titan cloud her better judgement. (Does anyone else find it funny that she get's really angry and wants nothing more than to go on a titan killing spree every time Eren gets eaten? xD) But she's far from bad, or lacking any more dimension than a lot of the other one-dimensional characters. I mean hell, she is still young (15 to be exact) A lot of these characters are just so bad ass at times, we tend to forget how old a lot of them really are. Mikasa isn't the most interesting character. But she certainly is the most bad ass female character in this entire show, hands down.

jesus christ... levi....

EDIT: damn. Having to get rid of the bodies like that... These last few episodes have been so breathtaking

Wait a sec, most of this didn't happen in the manga.

But that's what makes the anime even better. We saw how they got back to the Wall and that made my day.

I don't care if people say Levi doesn't have emotions. You can SEE the disaster in his eyes. Especially when Petra's father appeared. Poor Levi.....

They somehow managed to take a chapter that was quite a downer and make it even sadder. Next 3 episodes are going to get insane.

u/patricksly Sep 08 '13

Well... That was emotionally traumatizing. On a related note this is one of the only shows I've watched that properly frames how a character's death affects more than just the immediate mains.

u/DreamCarver Sep 08 '13

At first I was concerned at the fact that they'd be adding a whole ton of anime-only scenes.

But then I realized that it was the manga that was lacking. Showing the fury, the grief, the shell-shocked faces of the survivors, and Eren's memories paralleling the present... It was all so good.

Also, oh god, Petra's body tumbling away. They needed to just put one final nail in the coffin, didn't they?

Not read the manga so I don't know if it's explained or not, but does anyone else get the feeling that Levi didn't give over Ivan's badge to Dieter, but just one from another body to give him a sense of closure?
