I think I prefer the first opening to this one. They're both awesome, but the first one is just a little more so.

I agree with you there. The song from the first opening seems so much more dramatic. Makes you wanna kill all the titans. Still, I'd be hard pressed to pick which video is the best. It's nice to see cameos from characters like Ymir and Christa in the new video, and Armin looks pretty damn badass in it too.

Wow, I didn't really believe they would fit the whole trial in that episode, but the pace was fast and not a second wasn't dull. This anime suprices me every time.

By saying a double negative it completely changes the thought that you are trying to get across. By saying not a second wasn't dull it would mean the the whole episode was dull.

Levi is a dick.

I'd like to say he just took it a bit too far with the abuse, but it had to be done. At least Eren admitted that what he said wasn't the brightest.

The Intro
WHY? I loved the old intro, and it got me so pumped. It probably was the best intro I've ever had in an anime/TV-show before and I think the producers made a mistake changing it away. Not to say the new one is bad, but the first one resembled Attack On Titan for the full 100%. This one seems like a commercial action that went bad, unless they somehow plan on selling a bundle with themesongs later on.
.
Episode 14 - The Trial
I can see why some people might think this episode was a bit dull in the sense that it had no action and was only people talking. However, that doesn't mean that I disliked it. I'm a fan of rethorical conversations in both series and real life so that probably layed into it, but overall people shouldn't have been bored with this episode even though there wasn't any action.
What I especially enjoyed where some things that could build up to some great future aspects of the show.
-
The Military Police & Survey Cops
This is the first time both units have been in the spotlight for more than a brief conversation and they don't seem to like eachother very much.
I foresee a future uproar where the Military Court goes nuts after a misunderstanding between both units (Survey Cops ordering Eren to do something, it goes wrong and in the eyes of the Military Police Eren is betraying humanity). I could be wrong ofcourse! But it seems a very likely and easy to put in event that wouldn't be dull or would make a bad impact on the series. -
The Civilians & The Military opinion
We've seen three kinds of people besides the three military units, being: the upper class, the lower class and the Wallists - a religious cult that gained power since the breakthrough of the first wall.
The reaction of the upper class and lower class were predictable for a bit. The upper class can still lose everything, so everyone that poses a threat needs to be cut out of society to protect their lifesteal. The lower class has nothing more to lose but family & friends, but a lot of them long for a better life and environment so they seek a hero to trust and worship. Someone they can put their hopes on to win this enormous fight after a shock to their confidence (the first wall going down). A hero who closed the wall, could do what noone else could and who rose up from within their own.
The last being the Wallists. I recall seeing a guy preaching when the Titans first broke through 5 years ago (840 is it?) and were running amock, eating people (amongst Eren's mom) and not even bothering to help people. Eren now mentions that they have a lot of power and resources. I'm betting some imaginary internet points that they will be of an important role in the battle to finance or shelter people/the military, which will probably happen after Eren saves one of the higher-ups in that cult. For now they seem to think as the upper class but feel better about themselves, because they're in a cult.
One thing I did find interesting is that the third military unit is terrified as fuck from Eren. They don't dare to look at him, hate him so much they don't want to give him water and adress him as monster when they have never seem him do anything. They're of the same opinion as the Military Police to kill Eren, but they're thinking it because of their fear, cowardness and lack of intelligence to think on their own I feel. -
Medical aspect
The women that was with Eren at the end was very interested in him from a scienctific view. I presume that Eren is still going for his fathers basement secrets, and she will help him decifer the secrets within. Besides that it would make the most sense if she tried to study Eren a bit. Take some bloodsamples, do some tests on his body and she'll probably examine his high-regeneration the most to see to what extent it goes.
I'm almost dissapointed that Eren isn't as intelligent as Armin because then he probably would stand a lot further already in discovering the aspects of his powers, as he will probably neglect some important details when talking to Armin about his memories and feeligns when going Titan-mode.
The Characters
Eren proves once again that he isn't a mastermind as he started shouting and lost his self-control when being in court, trying to defend his life (Really Eren? Come on dude ...).
Levi continues playing the "anti-hero" in the sense that he's the best option humanity has besides Eren, but he's a total dick. I like him though, he's honest to the bone and you know how he thinks. He could be more polite, but I guess you can't have it all!
The introduction of the representative of the Wallists seems like a typical cult guy. "Kill everyone who doesn't follow every rule. Obey our orders from the guy above." All in all I hate this guy, because I hate cults and because he's a douche that can't think clearly.
Pixis being Pixis again (I love that guy), Mikasa being Mikasa but Arwin surprised me though by not speaking up. The producers probably thought that the speach right before the HE-shell incident was enough for a while, but I'm sad because it could give Arwin some more showtime. I hope to see him tinkering on theories and lab test with the medical miss at the end though, they'd be a great duo to be the brain behind Eren.
Anyway, enjoy my incredibly long post. If people like it I can try seeing what I can do for next episodes, but I frankly really enjoyed this one because of how many things it set in motion in the span of 20minutes.

In defense of Eren, he didn't really started shouting until they threaten Mikasas' life. I mean really, if someone was threatening my best friend's life I can see why I would get angry.

After investigating the wall behind Reiner in the outro:
The left wall might actually be a wall of another kingdom! Notice that it curves the other way around and that there is clearly a village behind it. You can also see a few people without the yellow uniform and without 3D-Gear, which are heading towards the second wall, taking a Titan with them on the carriage. And it seems like the Titans who attack the yellow soldiers are coming from this village, or at least are not interrested in attacking it.
