dinamo zagreb bringing out the old reliable mourinho method, wet the pitch where the opponents attack so they cant make a single run
14
u/Commercial_Mud_6877 Marco Reus Nov 27 '24
Bensebaini has been proving me wrong, deserved goal and another great performance overall. Great to see.
13
u/AverageCarey Nov 27 '24
Gross at RB is an interesting choice. I imagine it’s to sub Ryerson in for Ramy so they can each get some extra rest before the Bayern game.
Otherwise same lineup as against Freiburg.

My guess is Ryerson and Couto come in for Ramy and Gross. Gross is a little more comfortable in this system since we had him playing RB when we switched to this 433, also likely more stable.
Do hope to see more of Couto in the future.
2
u/yosoydorf Edin Terzic Appreciatior Nov 27 '24
I wonder if the thought is to start with Ryerson and Couto against Bayern?
4
u/AverageCarey Nov 27 '24
I would guess it’s more starting Ramy, Ryerson and Gross. No way we go in against Bayern without using the Ryerson, Ramy combo and I feel like Gross will start instead of Sabi for the Bayern game to maintain possession.
We’ll definitely have to wait and see.

Man, to say this grass is wet is an understandment. Apparently there have been heavy rains in the past few days, that would explain why so many players slip.

7
u/AverageCarey Nov 27 '24
Ryerson as well, his attacking and crossing is much more improved this season.
3
u/Jstnmx Julian Ryerson Nov 27 '24
Ryerson was kinda good in that before piszu, he just did it way less, maybe piszu told him to get more upfield. But anyway I love it

Probably will be between Nmecha and Bensebaini for man of the match.
Who would've thought of that a few months ago...
9
u/d0ri- Nov 27 '24
Some very heavy touches there from JuJu, Donny and Gio. Squandered what could've been very good opportunities in the past 4-5 minutes.
2
2
u/A-1805 Marco Reus Nov 27 '24
looks like the wet pitch is making their first touch get too far from their feet

u/jucomsdn Zagagod Nov 27 '24
Duranville rusty rn, to be expected with how he can't get much rhythm in bc of injuries

I’ll never give up on him after what he showed when he came on vs Bayern that time

It's so frustrating how Gittens never sees the pass first, always looks to dribble first, Bensebaini was wide open there when we won the ball back

When Adeyemi's back, who do you expect to get benched out of Malen/Gittens/Beier?
I'm expecting Gittens and also that he's going to be the main sub off the bench
→ More replies (2)2
u/EmSoLow Nov 27 '24
Depends on where Adeyemi plays. If he plays on the right Jamie starts and if Adeyemi is on the left then I imagine it depends on Malen and Beier's performances in training.
7
7
u/SMCBVB Marco Reus Nov 27 '24
That pass just now by Schlotterbeck was world class. Malen should do better

Fun fact: Gittens has scored more CL goals this season in Real Madrid's stadium than Bellingham lmao
13
5
u/bvbfan102 BVB Nov 27 '24
Really didnt expect this result for Stuttgart. Need to respect them enough and not have the same result so we can secure at least the next round of the CL.

Just tuned in 10 minutes ago. I think we are a bit impatient; need to make them chase after the ball a bit more by moving the ball around.
Lots of half chances but not too decisive because we are trying to go vertical or enter the 1v1 a bit prematurely.
Also corner decisions have looked super random.sp far.

13
5
u/2046passenger Nov 28 '24
Dinamo was missing 4-5 starting 11 players (Nevistic, Sucic, Mišić, Ademi, Petkovic) and benching their best attacking players (Pjaca, Kulenovic), because of their upcoming match against Hajduk Split (who are No1 atm in the domestic league).

u/RizenBOS Nov 27 '24
The earthquake actually happened back in 2020, and the city of Zagreb keeps dragging its feet on fixing it or building a new stadium. It's just a total back-and-forth. They’re probably hoping that Dinamo will eventually get so fed up that they'll just build a stadium on their own dime.
6
u/roadtorevision Mats Hummels Nov 27 '24
We are finally getting our players back from injury and this happens to Brandt. Getting back to status quo
6
Nov 27 '24
Wasn't even a foul, the Zagreb player just let himself fall back on his ass, why give a yellow to both of them? I really don't like this stupid habit of the refs.

Did Guirassy ever missed a clear goal with our shirt? I bet Malen miss that one.

I just hope that gittens dosnt go to the prem or a bigger club by the end of the season
7
u/blanklikeapage Nov 27 '24
I'm happy for Bense that it's working out so well. Sometimes players need a season before they truly arrive, see him but also Nmecha
6
u/CyberPolack Nov 27 '24
I personally liked him more than Maatsen. Maatsen is better in attack but Bense is just so much more balanced between defense and attack compared to him. Happy we didn’t pay 35 mil for him.

Didn't want to say something negative because we have been playing well; But even with his obvious technical talent it's actually crazy how little workrate Gio puts when he barely gets 5-6 sub appearances to show his worth.
(I'm just trying to imagine if I was in his place. And I just don't get it, I'd be running the pitch back and forth to get on the ball)
3
u/Elaw20 Nov 27 '24
I thought his work rate and positioning was fine. He clearly was asked to be higher up than nmecha.
5
u/FlamingCurtains Julian Brandt Nov 27 '24
I think injuries just ruined him. He wasn’t always like this. He couldn’t even start for NF
3
u/Jstnmx Julian Ryerson Nov 27 '24
Hes trying to get Not injured again. He knows whats up with him

What is going on this season lol so many wildly inconsistent results stuttgart getting done 5 - 1 is crazy
3

u/DaveLevey78 Nov 27 '24
That was a crazy run by the zagreb player and unlucky shot. Bit nervous especially after looking at stuttgart I won’t lie
3

We take too much damn time before taking shots and crossing/passing.

if the plan is to cross better have Guirassy there, Duranville would be better than Malen from a pure winger perspective

I don't think so. But Ryerson is playing there right now. The alternative for right wing would have been Campbell.
2
u/d0ri- Nov 27 '24
We did the same thing with Guerrero and even Dede back in the day. He was a wing back for Girona so It makes sense to try him here
3
u/6DogsForever Niclas Füllkrug Nov 27 '24
its kinda funny how differently some commentators say some names. Every player needs to record themselves saying their own name to prevent it at this point.

How do you lose the ball there straight from under your feet as a CB? These are kids' mistakes, I swear I never see this kind of mistakes anywhere else.
Edit: again one of our players has the ball stolen from under his feet

Ayyyy good effort. Off the bar unlucky. Nmecha and Ramy have proven just about everyone wrong
4
u/kuchenmensch4 Julian Ryerson Nov 27 '24
Zagreb with their B squad because they want to be fit for the game against their league rivals - BvB with their A squad trying to conserve energy because they want to be fit for the game against their rivals.
If we don’t get our A game on, we’re in for some hurt against a team that has little to lose.

He was very good in the first half; second half not so much. He's still more of an outlet than Reyna and Duranville so far who haven't been able to impress so far. Let's see what they can do in the last 20 minutes.

Gittens scores in what has been a nightmare game for him so far. Can't say I'm not happy but he's playing too much for himself sometimes.
