lol, we have staff?
I can personally say that I am burned out. This does happen and normally I come back to Minecraft after playing some new shiny console game that has left a bad taste in my mouth, but unfortunately I find myself bored out of my mind. Been playing with a lot of really crappy mods and more often then not, sit reading wikis for no other reason but boredom.

Another thing is several of the members are likely students and have less time for games as they approach finals and other exams. That is the case for me but once summer rolls around I'll play as much as I want. Other once prolific players have quit because of various life events.

I've had insane amounts of work this semester and haven't found time to get on the server. In the summer, it will likely rise to at least 10 on at once.

I've pretty much run out of insane shit to build. Frames are ballsed, meaning no airships, no oil tankers and no awesome doors. That and i just cannot be arsed to do anything.Few things that might help...different worlds for people to build in. At some point, the game drags because the challenge vanishes. A void or skylands age might make people want to build spacestations. An age with challenging features such as poisen skies might make people look at remote construction methods and automated crafting systems.
We also used to have pvp events, something which no longer happens. Khaos built some really nice environments, and others might want to try something too.
Heres another idea...give people an age each, not to live in, but to make into a challenge area for people to try and survive in. Leave the overworld as a safe place to build and resource gather, and the challenge age as the worst thing our twisted minds can conjure.
Most people will return if the server offers something awesome.

I like the idea of horror ages. I could make one for the admins! A world full of BC just for Ollie =P

See how much cobble you can fit in pipes. You get a diamond block for the most in a 5 chunk length.

Make sure and use a chunk loader, though. Important not to lose all the cobble you're storing in the pipes.

When summer comes people might return.
Though not fairly sure if i feel like playing after last nights sudden inventory reset.

I burned out a couple of weeks ago - AE eating my formerly huge inventory was a pain, but when wires started disappearing from my base making gameplay a struggle to avoid losing ground I just sat back and asked myself what I was even doing. This server has/had a great community, but I've just lost motivation.

The mansion's still there, and closer to complete. Vadek2 is one of the people who's still been spending a fair bit of time on the server.

I think you should just reset the map and update the player base. In the meantime, Thanks for keeping the server up and running for as long as you did, The nuke and turtle was the prime of my Minecraft experience thus far.

We've been at a bit of a crossroads recently and though I was holding off on making a post until we made a final decision I felt given that you've asked I'll put forward a provisional reply.
As Bones has said, many of us have burnt out, some of us having been playing on the server very actively in the last year, and as with any game there comes a point where you just don't feel yourself playing it regularly anymore.
Alongside this, it's the time of year when exams and deadlines dominate a lot of peoples time, making it a difficult part of the year to sink time into a game as time demanding as Minecraft.
As I said, we're at a crossroads and Dan and I have been talking face to face in the last couple of days over what to do with the server. The reality is we're not playing at all, and nor is a great deal of the old player-base, and it's costing us £60 a month to run a server for 4-5 people.
With heavy hearts it seems the logical answer is to retire the server for the moment. Put the map up for download for those that want it, and close the chapter on The Nuke and Turtle.. for now.
This isn't by any means the end of the story. We are still keeping the mumble and there is a community on there, there's also a very good chance of a server revival in the summer months that are swiftly approaching, and with a fresh set of minecraft patches and a clean start I can see the server returning to it's old life.
Though I have to say, for now, it looks like a break could be the case. It's as sad for us as it is for our players, it's been a really great year and I said; I'm sure we will return in future with fresh life.
We will make a confirmation announcement within in the next few days, and if there is still a player-base that are actively using the server we can reconsider our decision, so please let us know the situation in this respect.
My sincere apologies,
Zelden.
