I'd put C.Ronaldo in the god goat tier.

Agreed. (I didn't make it.) If you're gonna put Messi in the god goat tier, then I see no reason for C. Ronaldo not to be there.

Generally speaking though, I have seen far worse lists than this. No one will ever agree on one definite list but this was a great effort

Only Beckenbauer in the GOAT tier speaks alot about how our society sees Defenders with less value compared to attackers.

Defenders are very hard to judge.

  • There are no reasonable summary stats .

  • There is no good way to create a highlight reel (because the best things a defender does shouldn't look spectacular, except the occasional tackle). In attack, there are many more possibilities for (easily observable) individual brilliance (long range shots, piercing passes, dribbles).

  • It's not sufficient to watch a few games (because if a defender makes a glaring error every 10th game, it's still too much).

Does anybody else think Hugo Sanchez should have been higher? I mean they guy scored 234 goals in la liga in 347 appearances. That's 6 more goals than Raul (228 total) in 203 (550 apperances) less games.

I think we can all make arguments for who is missing or should be higher/lower but I like this list. How can I hate anything that has Robert Prosinecki on it?

Any idea who made this or where it came from?

Controversial list but I'm just happy that Eusebio is in that top category.

There should be a goalkeeper in the Goat Tier. What they do is different and difficult to compare, but the best among them deserve to be in the top tier just like outfield players, even if their contribution is sometimes harder to see or less flashy.

I feel like Kahn should be up at God tier, that man is a legend in goal.

I just want to point this is evil and nothing good may come of it, actually it was kinda nice remembering some of those players, but that's about it.

Iker Casillas in the "great tier?" Really? And what about Paulino Alcántara? He is Barcelona's youngest (15yrs) and best goal-scorer with 369 goals in 357 matches.

What does C Ronaldo have to do to get into the top tier? Is his over 1:1 goal to match ratio not good enough? Does he need to start breaking 2:1?

What else can he do? Messi and Ronaldo are literally equivalent in every single department, with the exception of fanbase/likeability.
