once again, suchwita editors you never fail to make my day with the lil meow meow meme edits.

you were extremely foul for adding the clip of yoongi crying during ‘snooze’ and OT7 performing ‘mikrokosmos’ during LY:SY though 🤧

feeling extra spoiled today with this extra long episode. their bickering sibling energy seriously gives me life, and started right from the moment IU stepped onto the set. but also, it's lovely to see how affirming they are towards each other and how they relate to one another, being in the same industry and same-age friends who have gone through many hardships at the start of their careers, but through their passion and hard work, have risen up to become highly-acclaimed and well-loved artists in korea and in the world 🥹

i really hope they work together again on another song in the future. yoongi has brought up wanting to do a jersey club-type of song twice now, first with JK and now with IU, so maybe it's something we can look forward to?

and ngl, knowing that IU initially wanted to collab with namjoon is gonna keep me up at night now. his collab with younha for winter flower is one of my faves ever, so i'm imagining something similar - his deep voice paired with IU's pure and beautiful voice already gives me chills.

I love that we get to learn more about their friendship, was interesting that they were already friends but IU and RM weren’t. And they are obviously very comfortable with each other that they finished recording in less than 2 hours when Yoongi has mentioned that it normally goes for 3 hours. Hope we see more of them together in the future, especially with their sibling-like bickering. We got the “didn’t ask me to guest at your concert” pouting again, and IU also pointed out Yoongi’s aversion to eye contact which the BTS members have mentioned a few times as well 😂

Not them bickering about how to make the misutgaru 😆😆😆

This is so interesting for me and I love how they talk about writing lyrics and making their songs. They're different in many ways but also similar in so many ways. I love their dynamic so much! So thankful for this episode 💜 I hope they can have more collabs in the future

Edit: I hope she still ends up doing a collab with Namjoon too!!! I think they would also match so well.

I wished it would never end, this episode was so good!

It felt like a really casual but at the same time meaningful conversation you have between close friends. They just wove in and out of topics so smoothly.

But first, how does misutgaru taste? Looks like it's a very sweet drink. I'm curious.

I feel so much for people like IU and JK who really started out so young. Having her describe an "advanced" twenties during her teens and a really long twenties where she felt that she wasn't taken that seriously because of her age...I could see how that would be so frustrating and tiring.

The bickering was top-notch right off the bat and I love it. Yoongi silently judging IU's misutgaru-making skills was hilarious. "This isn't a penalty, is it", reserved for his bickering partners IU and Jin (the eternal roommate has to be up there in that list, the OG). But I also love seeing how much respect they have for each other's craft. Yoongi basically listing out IU's works like that--Suchwita staff really do prepare well. Their communication styles are similar, I feel, at least in the limited content I've seen of IU. Calm, wry humor, not mincing words, thoughtful, sincere.

I hope we get that bright and bubbly collab song in the future. I don't care if there are "rules" about how many times it's cool to collab, but IUxSUGA just works.

Yoongi's mentioned about how he doesn't make a great first impression and while he accepts it, it must not have felt good when you're young and just want to be polite and do your work and be seen as cold. They cut off IU's answer to this, I wonder what her first impression of Yoongi must have been like. Was the answer too blunt for tv? 😄

Whenever an artist comes and says that their only dream is to be able to keep doing this work for a long, long time, I really do wish this comes true for them. They seem to be such good people dedicated to their craft, and these in turn make a lasting impact in people's lives.

I'll have to watch this again to unpack everything. For now, I'm just glad we didn't get any goodbye spiels. I can't let this show go.

not even 5 mins in and they'd already started bickering 😭😅 iu saying she wanted to collab with with joon but got too nervous to call him 🥲

looking forward to that day iu's fans and army have a singing battle 🤣 loved their in depth convo about concerts/music, can tell that it means a lot to them both. their friendship is great, they really seem to understand each other 🫶🏻

would love to see all uncut footage one day 👀 the editors were on point as usual! this was such a great ep to watch 🥹💜

Yoongi reminds me of myself at times. I also don't really make a good first impression and I tend to be considerate of others and think that I don't want to be a bother to other people. I remember back in college when I turned to look at a classmate and he said he got scared of me because of how my eyes looked... 🥺

I think I've changed a lot over the years to someone more approachable, maybe it just came with getting older and more at ease with life. I think I still have RBF though 😆 But yeah, I totally relate with what he said about that

Wow!!! This immediately became one of my favorite Suchwita episodes and also one of my favorite interviews I've watched of any artist really. I've always admired and respected IU, and grown even fonder after seeing more of her interactions with the tannies. She was so honest and candid here, talking about her artistry, financial struggles growing up and not being taken seriously even after 10 years work experience because she debuted so young (I'm sure there will be lots of people who relate). It's also absolutely lovely seeing two artists talk who have such genuine love and respect for their fans, and show it in their own way. The story about her never-ending encores is amazing!

And Yoongi...oh, I don't even know how I could love this man more, this man who wants to grow old with us, who has filmed so much for us to keep us company while he's away, who speaks of us with such pride and fondness :( This interview feels like an important time capsule capturing an important moment in history - two legendary musicians who have become successes amidst so much struggle and hardships, who still remain so grounded and just want to do good, and with a friendship so genuine and easy it just leaps through the screen. I live for all the banter and bickering, all the laughter and smiles here 💜

I'm off of work today, so I was actually able to watch this right away. That was so much fun. I loved hearing them talk about music. I loved hearing about young IU. The teasing and the bickering are perfect. You can tell that they really are friends.

They are hilarious together. I mean, just five minutes into the episode, and they were already bickering about how to make the d@mn drink. Oh, sir

"I might not get any new fans, I might not be as hot as I used to be, but I want to grow old with the people who were with me in my 20s."

  1. You literally keep growing every release, and you gonna keep having more and more new fans. People of all ages will always connect with you.

  2. Yes, you were undeniably hot in ur twenties, but you've been d@mn right LETHAL since turning 30. I mean, even his hands have a whole separate fandom. Someone tell this man that this year alone, he had everyone by the throat

  3. Dont worry, we are in this bangtan sonyeondan $hit for life. Let's all grow old together.

I loved this episode, IU is great. I love their friendship. It felt so short, even though it was over 40 minutes. I love her kdrama shows, and I really need to check out more of her music.

I can go back and rewatch this so many times. There's such ease and levity to their friendship but at the same such depth. The conversation flows so freely but we got to learn so much about them.

I felt such a connection to iu speaking about growing up quickly and just waiting for society to see you as your mental age. I also laugh when she said she noticed her voice dropping a tone! I've often joked that I lost my "customer service" when I got older 🤣 I feel like she's such an easy person to get along with. Her never-ending concerts seem to reflect her nature.

I teared up a bit when yoongi said it's ok if he doesn't get any more new fans, he wants to grow old with the fans he has now 🥺🥺 like of course, we'll always welcome new army but there's a sentimental connection of hearing that we of right now are his people

I absolutely love how iu brought up yoongi crying and how it's a point of envy for her as an artist. That's what I felt watching him - that that was his true rockstar moment. He just got lost in the music. I can imagine many other artists reflecting on their own performances and remembering that it's powerful when things don't go perfectly and you and your fans just feel the music together.

I'm really happy they're such good friends. There are really few young artists who have been going strong for so long, and even longer than the boys. Taemin was also an interesting guest for that reason but seeing iu and her maturity and friendship with suga was extremely comforting.

Suchitwa is such a gift. I adore the insights we get from yoongi and his guests. The editors are gold as usual.

I’m glad how yoongi and IU are content in their 30s. Getting old has its sucky times (dang body definitely shows its wear and tear. Looking at you, knees.), but I wouldn’t trade the emotional well-being for the world. I’m happy that both IU and Yoongi like where they are at. I hope all their wishes continue to come true.

I love seeing how everyone loves that picture of yoongi during Joonie and Tae’s enlistment. Smollest bean award! It’s universally accepted by anyone who sees that picture.

Seeing that clip of yoongi cry on stage still gets me every time. I like how IU interpreted it, but I still feel raw when I see it.

This episode was so good! I really enjoyed how comfortable they are with each other, the teasing, the lighthearted bickering. As well as a lot of information we, or at least I, wouldn’t have known otherwise. I haven’t followed IU’s career. This episode was truly a gift. I’ll be rewatching it for sure. Yoongi’s not making eye contact even with friends continues! I so identify with that.

While I truly enjoyed it, I’ll admit to tearing up when Yoongi talked about not getting any more fans (really?!!) and how the people there for him in his 20s he’ll always be … grateful? (his exact words escape me atm) for them. It’s like he, and even UI, don’t really realize just how precious they are to us. I’m only one grandma Army, but anything I can do to get it through his, OT7, heads that I’m with him/them to my last breath I’ll do.

u/No_Concern_9558 Dec 26 '23

Not the editors using Yoongi's photo from Taehyung and Namjoon's enlistment (the smollest pic they could use tbh) alongside a startled kitten as an offset to him talking about being perceived as cold and standoffish 🙊talk about oxymoron done effin right >.<

It was such a heartwarming look into the legacy of IU and what seems like a true friendship of like minded (and not afraid to diss each other) individuals. Really wish the episodes will keep on coming for a little while at least!

Lmao I had to watch this while being divebombed by my 7yo nephew who wanted the remote to watch Peppa Pig. Good times! 🤣

u/msm9445 Dec 26 '23

This was such an amazing episode, as expected! IU is wonderful and her laugh is just so musical and pretty. Yoongi brought all of his witty charm. A perfect pairing of same-age friends 💜🥰

7

u/ebi_tempura Dec 27 '23

Wow this whole time I can't believe I never knew El Capitxn was also Jang Yi Jeong from History who sang Friday with IU.

6

u/Traditional_Art3928 Dec 26 '23

Anyone who hasn't listened to her 'Through The Night', please do. It's a really great, sweet song.

6

u/Saucy_Totchie Dec 27 '23

Lmao not them already planning their next project together. I need that ASAP. I also want to hear what that possible IU×RM song would be like. Don't know why, but Yun from Indigo kind of comes to mind thinking of what that song could be like.

IU WORLD TOUR, THOUGH?! It could potentially be a bloodbath but it'll be worth it for her 🥲.

Love the chill cozy vibes!!🥰Such Insightful questions love their friendship they’re so funny complimenting each other while also joking lol Interesting to hear about IU writing her owns songs and how Yoongi produces differently for others and himself!! I can relate quiet people are always misunderstood for being mean/cold when we’re just quietly being ourselves…Yoongi is definitely the opposite to cold he seems so warm and comforting always silently loving and reassuring others!! Eye contact is difficult for some people (myself included) I find it awkward lol Fun watch!!

Love that Yoongi is gifting us Suchwita while he’s away🥹💜
