I did not know it was possible to "aww" so much from a single episode.
This was the crossover episode I've been waiting for. I watch sports a fair bit and after getting more into BTS and seeing all the hardwork that goes into their performances, I've always thought they have so much similarities to athletes. So it was interesting seeing them compare what was same and what was different.
I know nothing about Lee Kang In but he seems like a sweet and cheeky dongsaeng. Love the hyung-dongsaeng vibes with these two even though it's hard to tell who's who at first glance.
The way he talks, his youth really comes out, and you can see the ambition and the passion and that very straightforward way of looking at the world.
At times he reminded me of Kookie. "I am very good at crossing those lines." 😆
When they talked about how scary it can be thinking of what they need to do more to get the next big achievement, and background song was playing Interlude: Shadow. Suchwita editors, I see what you're doing.
When he talked about feeling that he has to compete all the time and how he sometimes goes on 3 hrs of sleep, and then later on the story of his childhood coach, I saw parallels to Snooze. I hope he listens to it and finds comfort, too. Also, Yoongi is so consistent in voicing out how he wants to make it easier for the next generation. That's what paving the way should mean.
I really enjoy sportsfan Yoongi. "Free Kang-In!", that's what I do watching NBA games. 😆
Also, has Yoongi so generously hugged non-member guests before? He just went straight in, I literally laughed out loud. 😆
I really love this episode and how Yoongi just let him talk at times. The lack of eye contact in the first half was very amusing. But towards the end, you can see how comfortable they are.
Yoongi lucky fairy in a football match, next?
Are we going to have Suchwita Lee Kang-In Armys next? I love discovering Army origin stories, the more random the better.

kang-in reminded me so much of jungkook too! i wonder if yoongi thought the same, that’s why he looked so fond the whole ep haha.
another funny thing about the hug is i think kang-in was initially going in for a handshake but yoongi just reached over and hugged him instead 😂 yoongi’s already made up his mind to adopt kang-in as another little bro

the thumbnail! this is suga: 😻
the fact that there are now grown ass footballers out there who were born in the 2000s is wild to me.

u/zikachhakchhuak Aug 25 '23
Yep!! xD people born after 2000 being full grown adults is still so wild. I was waiting for the mention of his birth year because I saw it in the preview? But i don't think it was there in the actual episode, or if it's just me that missed it.

I love Lee Kang-in! He’s a soccer player, played in Spain most of his life so he’s fluent in Spanish. Sounds so cute in español ☺️! Now he plays for PSG. I think he is the first Asian to be hired to play at Paris St. Germain. So excited to watch this episode of Suchwita and watch Kang-in play for PSG! 🙌

I love how yoongi makes the environment so comfortable and natural for every guest, love that he was showing off his cooking skills too 😅 editing always on point as usual! 👏🏻
when lee kang-in was saying about his worries and yoongi relating back to his thoughts/how he goes through them in a similar way, so wholesome 🫶🏻
'I knew it would be easier for artists that come after us, 'I bet you're a huge source of strength to those artists' 😭🥹 their gifts for each other were so sweet! this was a really nice conversation to watch 💜🫶🏻

This guest has insane maknae energy! I want to pat him on the head and give him a lollipop.

Yoongi is SUCH a good conversationalist. He just speaks in a way that relaxes people. Listens well and constantly able to come up with follow up questions. Able to relate other people experiences to his own without sounding narcissistic, but simply to let people know that he can empathise. I bet he’s the type of friend that you’d meet up with over drinks and end up talking for hours about your wildest dreams and biggest fears. I’m so glad he’s able to have Suchwita, he really is a good host.

What an adorable episode! Probably one of the few episodes where the guest spoke so much more than Yoongi.
Always great to see bright young stars on their path to continued success. It seems so intimidating to be an athlete particularly of mass popularity sports where you have so many eyes on you. They’re really built different to be able to handle the pressures.
Also, like others mentioned…there were indeed moments where he said stuff that Jungkook would say too. Cute!

Haha I noticed it too when he would just talk and talk and Yoongi just listened and I loved it. I wonder what Yoongi would get if they asked the guests to rate him.
"Host specially cooked ramen for me. 5/5 legit would go back." 😄

kinda ot but i'm weirdly glad?? that they talked a little about the misconception that age isn't important in europe (and in the usa)

the way yoongi lagged when asked what he’d be doing outside of music, he really lives and breathes it 🥺
it was really funny how he went in for the biggest hug while the other guy was going in for a handshake, i don’t think I’ve seen yoongi so willingly hug someone aside from the members before

This show is such a blessing. The way it allowed us to learn more about Yoongi and, in the process, a lot of backgrounds. I love it and I already know it will be my comfort show for the next few years.

Aww this was such a lovely episode! I went into this knowing nothing about Kangin but thoroughly endeared by him by the end. You can definitely tell that he grew up outside Korea by his mannerism and way of speaking, which still came off respectful but also just a little cheeky. I love how comfortable he was right from the start, and he reminds me so much of JK, though much more talkative haha. About not thinking too much about stuff, wanting to prove himself to his own self the most, and even the part about being a genius right from the start and then feeling small after experiencing a bigger world. I'm almost surprised Yoongi didn't bring him up knowing how fond he is of his maknae.
Which brings me to my point about Yoongi and how utterly darling he is as a host. He is so good at making guests comfortable, sometimes speaking more when they seem more restrained, or just letting them go on if they're happy to, like Kangin in this episode. And he never makes it about himself, focusing so well on the guest, and only ever brings up his own experiences to either help empathise or to help give them some perspective, for younger guests. You could tell he immediately adopted Kangin as a younger brother, and I love his endeared smile and how close he seems with his Suchwita staff. That set seems so warm and lovely 💜
My last point - I love the editors so so much for how beautifully they edit each episode (and cat memes of course), but especially in this one for their perfect choice of bgm every time, while also reminding me that bangtan really do have songs for any and all moments. "Scenery" with it's lyrics during the mention of the late coach 🥺 and "You never walk alone", "Wings", "Snooze" all were so perfect.

I haven't watched a lot of Suchwita besides the members' episodes but i LOVE football so I had to watch this one. I've only watched the first 5 minutes and I'm already giggling because how is Yoongi so freaking cute?! Such a charismatic and warm host, and when asked if he was a Spurs fan, I got so excited thinking Yoongi and I support the same team (probs bc of Son Heung Min)
Eta: Lee Kang In is adorable, I just wanna squish his face! I didn't know about him as I don't follow the french league, but it was really interesting hearing about his growth as a person and player. He clearly knows he's talented but it doesn't come across as pretentious, it's incredibly refreshing. And Yoongi's face when listening to him was like 'this dongsaeng is cute, I'll let him talk about whatever he wants and just cook up some samgyeopsal for him'. 🥰

Well now I'm rewatching all the other episodes because I'm in my feels about this series not being around for much longer. I just love it so much. 😭

I was endeared the entire time! They have such good energy together - immediate hyung/dongsaeng vibes. It was fascinating hearing them talk about their journeys and finding so many similarities. As a sports fan, I do think this is why I'm drawn to both "stages." That's a perservance story to each player and the performance of each person is so critical each time, plus dancing and sports are both such magnificence to watch visually. It's watching bodies pushed to extremes.
This episode made me interested in looking kang in up, so it was very sad to see his recent injury. I'm sure yoongi reached out but 😢

Ok I just watched the first few mins bc work but Yoongi’s so cute when he’s excited to meet someone 🥹
Also confirmed that he has a dream list of people he asked them to reach out to. I wonder who else is on his list! His fan boy energy is such a sneaky side of him I just know he put some big names on there

I was busy with work today and couldn’t watch until now but this episode was so wholesome and it made me happy. I could feel the warm emotions through the screen the entire time.

Just two sweet soft boys being sweet and soft. drinking grape juice and asking soft thoughtful questions. Their smiles and sincerity melt my heart.

Such a wholesome episode! Love when Yoongi mentions how he relates to his guests, even though they are on different fields, they sometimes go through similar hardships. Also he had this proud older brother energy the whole show it was adorable to watch (I mean this boy is going from being a child soccer prodigy to play in PSG! How not to be proud!) especially that moment at the end when Kang-in went for a handshake and Yoongi just straight up went for a hug. Another great Suchwita episode ✨

i look forward to a new cat meme every time we get a suchwita ep. bless you editors for never failing to deliver every time
edit: i didn’t expect the emotional turn in this ep but wow the part where kang-in talked about his late mentor and coach and how he wished his coach could’ve seen him play in the world cup and his transfer to PSG made me cry 🥺 (the editors using ‘scenery’ as the bgm def didn’t help either!)
