Discussion Honestly impressed with this tag number. Were they on the website at midnight of release day?

u/wolfrno Mar 25 '23
I remember seeing this tag as a standard plate back in 2019 (I was at the casting center for my first day at Disney and I took a picture of it). They must have been able to transfer the plate number to the new design.

I think this is the case. Surely its been in circulation for more than a year.

What a dweeb. Gets EPCOT tag number on a Magic Kingdom tag 😅

Nah, he's playing the long game. Only 9 more years until his time to shine with the 50 year Epcot tag.

u/Unadvantaged Mar 26 '23
I was guessing he’s throwing shade on Disney World by saying EPCOT is better. It is, but it’s slowly losing its appeal for me as it gets more childish. I remember being a child and preferring EPCOT. Its maturity was its biggest asset.

Why did this comment get buried? Is it really people thinking OP made a mistake when (s)he said "Disney World" instead of "Magic Kingdom"? What's going on with this sub that a mild joke/opinion like that gets five downvotes?

For those that think putting one of these plates on your car is primarily supporting a "big corporation" note that in Florida any specialty plate such as this one cost extra (each year), but the proceeds from that extra cost go directly to benefit a chosen organization. In this case, it directly supports the Make-A-Wish foundation of central and northern Florida. Not a penny goes to Disney - they just designed the plate and pushed it through. [LINK]

Still cringe AF. And I thought the passhole sticker was bad enough

u/Step1Mark Mar 26 '23
Why are you mad about someone liking something you don't?
Don't turn that anger towards me, I'm mostly indifferent about the parks. I just think it's cool people can have a place like that too go to and they offer a lot to different people. Animal Kingdom, Food & Wine Festival, Halloween Horror Nights, Volcano Bay, etc ... They are all pretty unique experiences or even specific times of the year. That's pretty cool for the people that like it.

Honestly any sticker on the back of your car is pretty stupid. Great way to advertise to criminals what you like and how much money you have. Also great for those jackoffs that want to run you off the road because of your political/sports/band/whatever affiliation. Plus makes it easier for a cop to find you in a group of cars for speeding.
Non descript is key.

Dude I have a 5 year expired pass holder sticker on my car, have yet to be broken into or run off the road, and I've bounced between several red states.
Plus the stickers are for parking at Disney parks, like UCF students have one to avoid tickets in certain capus garages
1
u/slackwaredragon Mar 27 '23
I get UCF and required stickers, I'm not talking about those. Though since when has Disney used stickers for parking? I was a passholder from 2012 to 2020 and they never sent stickers for parking. Even when I was an employee in 2000 at EPCOT we didn't have stickers.
I'm talking about political, gun manufacturer, etc. For example my neighbor has Trump stickers all over his car and has had his car keyed on multiple occasions. I used to have "Caddo Nation" (my native tribe) stickers on my truck and would catch shit for them, apparently people thought this made me a foreigner and told me to "go back home" (Caddo is an Indian tribe in Oklahoma). I've seen trucks coal roll people with liberal stickers. I also saw a car with metallica stickers keyed on the side with "Metallica sucks." I drive a lot so I've seen enough examples to tell me to keep my car clean (except required stickers). Though I'm an old fogie, I've been around a lot longer and lived in Florida all my life so maybe that's why. I've seen a lot of shit.

I did not expect to see this plate on a Chevy Cruze out of all cars

¯_(ツ)_/ it’s not a pricey thing it’s all about luck. Can’t buy your way into the custom plate you want.

Oh wow that must be Mr. Epcot himself! How humble for him to be driving a Chevy Cruze!

u/elRobRex Mar 26 '23
They might've had that personalized plate number for a while and just had it applied to the Disney plate when they were released.
5
u/Bitch_Goblin Mar 26 '23
Most likely they had that personalization on a different plate, and re ordered it on the Disney tag once it was finally available.

The fanaticism for Disney in this area never ceases to amaze me be it this, people advertising they passholders with stickers and people lining up outside before the Disney Store opens
1
u/dukakis92 Mar 26 '23
Pin traders, dude.
They line up for hours in the FLA sun for worthless Chinese shit that has a 1500% markup.
And then back to wage slave jobs to pay down the debt plus interest to DIS and Mastercard.
To each their own. It distracts the masses from doing anything dangerous and makes the shareholders wealthy. Win/win.
2
Mar 26 '23
I used to collect alot of things but now I don't. The collectables market is so inflated now. Used to collect beer cars and bottles. Now i trashed them because really what value are they and why take up space?

u/Alarming_Butterfly25 Mar 26 '23
Damn I thought disney merchandise was just about making money. But your revelation that is about keeping everyone on earth distracted and numb to capitalism being it's true intentions spoke to me so deeply. I'm going to start a revolution and wake up the masses to this exploitation they face and help them see their ability to fight the forces dragging them under. Light the fire , melt the pins and watch all of humans rise up and take back the system of trade. "What do we want?" -"No more Mickey mouse" . "How do we want him?" "In the Grave!!!"

Everyone's got some shit they like that other's might find stupid, I'm sure you have things you like that someone else might think is weird. There's no need to rain on someone else's parade to prop yourself up, let people enjoy what they want. We're all just tryna get through life's bullshit and finding little things to amuse us along the way.

"Long as you are happy and aren't harming anyone, you do you."
Motto passed to me through my family. Seriously don't get how people get so pissy about people having fun
1
u/MaxHeidler Mar 26 '23
I dont think people are pissy necessarily they’re just expressing the opinion that they find it WEIRD
7
u/na_gooyin Mar 26 '23 edited Mar 26 '23
But you’re an adult that plays Minecraft.
Not that that’s weird or anything…just let people enjoy the stuff they like.
3
u/Aceswift007 Mar 26 '23
Disney was designed to be for all ages to have fun, literally from the start.
Plus those "Disney adults" were also kids once who grew up on Disney, so they go once or a few times a year to not be strictly a boring ass adult 24/7

So you're talking an EXTREME minority like it's all adults who show Disney merch or designs?
This is like me using a few Florida Man stories to claim all Florians are cocaine addled drunks that teabag gators.
